What hotels in Albena have nice views? Holidays with children in Albena: is it worth going? Bulgaria holiday with children where is better Albena.

Hello, friends!

Sophisticated tourists claim that if you find yourself in Bulgaria with children at least once, you will certainly return to this country again.

We wrote about the advantages of holidaying with children in Bulgaria. And today we’ll talk about how to decide on a resort and which of hundreds of hotels to choose.

Resorts in Bulgaria

It is absolutely obvious even to a novice traveler that all resorts in Black Sea Bulgaria are primarily aimed at children, and the choice of the appropriate option is largely determined by the age of the child.

For example, the following resorts with wonderful beaches and hotels that offer many additional services for this category of tourists are ideal for mothers with babies: Albena, Duni, St. Constantine and Elena, Obzor, Elenite.

Older children are more interested in spending their summer holidays in busier resorts (Golden Sands, Sunny Beach), where there is a lot of entertainment, a developed network of children's attractions, active animation, and water sports.

Best prices on tours to Bulgaria for the whole family

Let's take a closer look at some of the Bulgarian resorts.

Albena– a modern resort, often recommended as an excellent place to relax with children in Bulgaria. Especially with little ones.

The resort is located on the territory of the Baltata nature reserve (36 km from Varna). Initially, it was a continuation of another resort known as Balchik.

Its climate is favorable, and the air, saturated with the aroma of pine, is useful for many diseases. The water temperature is almost always comfortable during the summer season. The sea is clean, calm, shallow, the entrance to the water is gentle.

In addition to a relaxing holiday on the beaches, stretching across a wide strip of sand, in Albena you can go paragliding, go on an excursion to the beautiful old town of Balchik or to the royal residence.

The Baltata Nature Reserve is also worthy of attention, among the attractions of which is a unique forest flooded with water, with its inhabitants and rare plants, the monastery of St. Athanasius, and the dervish monastery of Arat-Teke.

On the territory of the resort there is a medical center where you can receive treatment using healing mud.

Young tourists will enjoy the amusement park, the Aquamania water park, many children's clubs, rental of sports equipment, scooters and bicycles, Luna Park, and a ride on the children's railway.

When choosing a hotel, you need to clarify what kind of children's services and for what age they offer it, as well as how far it is located from the city's nightclubs.

It is worth mentioning such a specific type of summer holiday with children in Bulgaria as children's camps. These can be separately located sports, educational and health camps, such as in Primorsko, Kitten, Kranevo, or in dedicated rooms in different hotels in popular resorts in Bulgaria.

It is obvious that in small Bulgaria there are many unique resorts so different from each other. Each of them deserves to become a place for a family holiday with children. The choice is yours. For now, for now...

Incredibly long and wide snow-white beaches and a soft, gentle entrance to the water - American California and Mexican Cancun are proud of such beaches, but, as it turns out, it is quite possible to find them much closer - in Bulgaria. Today we will tell you about Albena - the most children's and most unusual resort Bulgaria. Hotels, restaurants and entertainment in Albena - in our review.

The Albena resort was built in the late 60s and was named after the heroine of the drama by the Bulgarian writer of the early 20th century Yordan Yovkov. There is also a hotel named after another heroine of this writer - Boryana. Albena is located 30 km north of the city of Varna, where the airport is located, so the path to the hotels is not far.

Albena is a recognized children's paradise: on the beach it’s soft, in the sea it’s shallow, in the city it’s fun. The average air temperature in summer is +23 -+28C, water +25C. The beach is 3.5 km long, 100-150 meters wide, water attractions, sports grounds - everything is there, all you have to do is bring some forms for the kids. Beaches in Bulgaria are state owned. According to the law, 50% of the territory must remain free and free, the rest is occupied by subcontractors with their umbrellas and sunbeds, who in turn rent them out to tourists. But many hotels are already “buying out” beach equipment for their guests: the room price since last year includes 1 umbrella, 2 sun loungers and 2 mattresses.

Albena is one of the very first resorts in Bulgaria with a completely renovated hotel fund, there are also new buildings. In general, the Albena Group company, which has owned the resort since 1991, has been developing it persistently and persistently. The fact that the entire resort has one owner makes the city look like one large tourist complex, where everything is slowly being brought up to a single quality standard. And there is a lot of work - not everything has been restored yet, some gray sandstone buildings left over from Soviet times look rather dull, but new hotels, colorful souvenir shops and restaurants improve the mood. Next year, for added entertainment, they promise to open a water park.

The city itself is small and that makes it very homely: on the second day you begin to recognize the people you meet, it’s difficult to get lost. The coastline, moving away from the sea, turns into wooded mountains - which save Albena from excessive growth and dense development. This probably upsets investors, but certainly pleases tourists. If in Sunny Beach you can already count both the third and sixth lines from the sea, then in Albena this is impossible. In the summer, construction and major renovations in the city are generally prohibited!

Very simple hotels are located on the mountain, where the tourist train goes. A lot of people gather at the stops during the season; it is easier to climb the mountain yourself, along the long wide stairs, reminiscent of the Crimean resorts or the outskirts of Greater Sochi.

There are a lot of Russian tourists - about 30%, but the Bulgarians hope for an increase in the flow: after all, Russians spend more outside hotels than tourists from other countries - Germans and Romanians.

Albena Hotels

The hotel areas are small and not closed: they all seem to flow from one to another.

There is little that compares with the views from first-line hotels - the sea in all directions. And at the hotel Kaliakra Superior 4* it can be seen from everywhere. In the Superior room, for example, from the bathroom and even while lying in bed - thanks to a very interesting layout: the bathroom and toilet are made as a separate block and hidden behind a heavy sliding door, which at first glance you take for a closet. By the way, the cosmetics in the bathroom are not the nameless standard ones, but from the French brand Ives Rocher. In general, the hotel is cozy, the food is varied, you can order all inclusive meals. But something needs to be done with the elevators in the hotel: they are small and you have to wait a long time, although sometimes going up to the 6-7th floor on foot can be useful.

Kaliakra Superior 4*

The most luxurious hotel in the resort - Flamingo Grand 5*- the only five-star hotel, built in 2008. The last two floors - the eighth and ninth - are called executive floors and are reserved for VIP-class apartments. Apartments at the Flamingo hotel are of 2 types: 3-room Grand superior - 100 m2 and 4-room Maisonettes Grand Superior with an area of 166 m. Those who live here have a separate reception and their own gastronomic restaurant, where they serve such delicious desserts that it’s difficult to stop - and after lunch you have to urgently run to the fitness center.

Flamingo Grand 5*

Speaking of food: all hotels must have a children's menu. A special pride is the natural juices from the own plantations of the same company that owns the resort. If the buffet of all inclusive hotels is usually full of instant drinks of poisonous colors, then in Albena you will be offered natural apple juice with pulp.

Restaurant Kaliakra

In general, you can eat everywhere, there is a lot of resort fast food: corn, ice cream, palachinki (pancakes) with a variety of fillings. There are several supermarkets where you can buy groceries in the city, there are many cafes, there are also “exotic” restaurants: Mexican Tex Mex, whose owner, the colorful Burcho, looks like Nikita Mikhalkov, which he is very proud of. There is an Italian restaurant Ti amo, a steakhouse Poco Loco, and a diet restaurant "Green Apple".

Sports for children and teenagers
Albena also specializes in children's sports recreation: teams come from all over the world, many Russian sports clubs have been organizing training camps and summer camps here for a long time. There is everything you need for different activities: tennis - 13 indoor and outdoor courts, 4 football fields, golf courses, volleyball, handball, field hockey. Equestrian sport is also represented - although they are ready to provide horses for beginners, as well as for lovers of romantic horseback rides along the sea.

There are no children's clubs in the usual "Turkish" sense in Albena. There is entertainment on the embankment: they paint figurines, sculpt from plasticine, and make beads. There is a place where you can drop off your children while you go shopping, but it’s paid: a club called “Zanimaika” is open from 9 am to 7 pm, with a break from 12 to 14. The payment is hourly - from 6 to 8 leva (120- 170 rubles).

Standard room Kaliakra Superior 4*

Spas and treatments: pamper and heal

A first-class ELEMENTS SPA center with saunas, a swimming pool, and a wide variety of treatments is open to all vacationers at prices that are unrealistic for Moscow spas of this level. Directly opposite - in the most distinguished hotel complex "Dobrudzha" - there is a large medical complex Medica-Albena and a balneotherapy clinic. Not every resort has a separate hospital with a full range of specialists and even equipment for hemodialysis - that is, those who need constant medical supervision can also relax at the resort. The combination of a mild climate and sea air is already healing in itself, but if you want to take a closer look at your health, then professionals from the balneology center will help you choose procedures based on mud or salts.

As often happens at resorts where there are many children, from time to time Albena is “visited” by intestinal infections. “Last year there was a virus, yes, but this was due to high air temperatures,” says Strakhil Popov, sales manager at the Albena resort, who speaks fluent Russian. He also entertains journalists with anecdotes about Russian-Bulgarian linguistic inconsistencies. For example, when a Russian tourist comes to the reception with the words “T-shirt fell from the balcony, get her out of the bushes,” the Bulgarians strive to call an ambulance, because “T-shirt” in Bulgarian means “mother.” And if someone says that you are “fearful,” smile: this colloquial word means sincere admiration.

For those who prefer an active holiday, there are excursions around the surrounding area, jeep safaris - although there are no jeeps or safaris, but everything is familiar and familiar: you ride UAZs through the fields, as if through village surroundings with friends.

Nature lovers have plenty of places to roam in Albena: the city borders the Baltata National Nature Reserve - an area of 203 hectares. Walking along it is allowed, different types of flora and fauna are even promised to be indicated on special information stands - for city residents who are unaccustomed to the diversity.

And for lovers of evening entertainment, there is a jazz cafe and two discos. One, called “Gorski Tsar” (“Forest King”), is located on the outskirts of the town - so as not to disturb those who want to sleep - and is good because you can leave the dance floor to breathe the pine night air, and then dance until the morning.

The program of charter flights to Bulgaria - weekly flights to Varna and Burgas on Mondays and Fridays - by Transaero airlines will last until September 16.

Discussion

Good afternoon,

Please come. The prices are not high and the weather is still summer. The sea is warm and the sun is not so hot. The cost of a week's stay at the Flamingo Grand 5***** hotel will be approximately 830 Euros for breakfast and dinner.

Having planned a trip to Bulgaria with children and opted for the Albena resort, you can be sure that you have made the right choice. A relatively young and modern resort on the Black Sea coast was founded in 1969 and since then has occupied a leading position in the ranking of the best family holiday destinations in Bulgaria.

Interestingly, the resort belongs to one owner and is named after the beautiful Albena, the heroine of one of the literary works of the famous Bulgarian writer Yordan Yovkov, who became a symbol of purity and beauty.

Indeed, this complex strives to live up to its name and be beautiful, and most importantly, well-groomed. This can be confirmed by the presence of a “blue flag”, which is awarded only to environmentally friendly resorts.

Kidpassage studied why holidays with children in Albena are so good and why, when answering the question, most Internet resources mention it.

Albena on the map of Bulgaria

The city of Albena is a resort complex in the northern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is part of the Dobrich region, the administrative center of which is the city of Dobrich.

The distance from Albena to Varna is 32 km, to Golden Sands - 13 km, to the resort of St. Constantine and Helena - 21 km, to Sunny Beach - 124 km, to Nessebar - 131 km, to Sozopol - 179 km.

Back in the first half of the twentieth century, in the place where Albena is located, there was a homeless steppe. The sun, sea, sand were wasted - no one thought of sunbathing in these wild places.

But thanks to an original architectural solution, a huge recreational complex appeared in the steppe, which became an excellent addition to the natural wealth of these places. Essentially, it is not a city, although in terms of infrastructure it can be equal to small settlements.

Vacation with children

Holidays in Albena are recommended specifically for families with children, and for good reason. The incredible combination of the sea with the unique Baltata nature reserve adjacent to the city also allows you to get aesthetic pleasure from staying in this place.

In the evenings, it’s nice to stroll along the embankment, breathe in the fresh, crystal clear air, and at the same time pamper your children with entertainment in the form of some games or attractions, which are presented here in huge quantities.

The fact alone is enough that here is the widest sandy beach in Bulgaria with an ideal entry into the water for children and a clean sandy bottom. The sea near the shore is shallow - just enough to teach a child to float on the water.

The availability of more than 20 equipped playgrounds, children's pools (in almost every hotel), an amusement park, trampolines, bicycle and car rental points, water activities on the beach, and mini-clubs testifies to how suitable Albena is for children.

Rich children's cultural program in any season includes festivals, competitions, thematic programs and many other events.

In addition, during your holiday in Albena, you can send your child to a riding school or a diving center. Children, regardless of age, will always have fun and interesting here.

And at the same time, despite such an abundance of entertainment, the resort is characterized by calm and tranquility. It’s easy to find a cozy place to walk with a baby here.

Hotels do not stand aside either, offering a number of discounts and certain bonuses for those coming to Albena with children. Unlike many other resorts, children under the age of 14 can count on significant discounts.

Note that the all-inclusive system is widely used in hotels: this is really important if you want to relax with your child comfortably and carefree.

Another advantage of the resort is the convenience of transfer. Albena is located near the airport, so the journey to the holiday destination will not tire young tourists.

When is the best time to go?

Albena was built exclusively as a summer tourist complex, where everything is focused specifically on beach holidays. Accordingly, you can only come here in the summer, which lasts here from late May to mid-September.

The opening of the season in Albena can be considered the beginning of the water park, and it usually receives its first guests in early June.

The air in June is already warm enough to sunbathe on the beach, but the water in the sea remains cold. If you really want to swim, we recommend choosing a hotel or apartment with a pool for your stay.

The weather in June can sometimes be rainy (in this case, you can plan a trip to Varna, where there are indoor playgrounds for children).

The high season in Albena begins in July and lasts until the end of August. These are the warmest months, and the sea finally has time to warm up - so much so that children do not want to get out of it. At this time, there are many vacationers at the resort, but more than one thousand people can sit on the 5-kilometer beach.

The first days of September are the velvet season. The sun is not as hot as in summer, and the sea remains warm. But sometimes the beginning of autumn brings cold and rain, although, as a rule, bad weather begins in the second half of September.

It should be noted that Albena hotels open in mid-spring. Of course, in May it is still too early to sunbathe and swim, but it’s time to walk along the beach and breathe the healing sea air.

In order not to find out whether a small child can handle the heat well, we advise you to plan a vacation for the last month of spring.

And the decision when it’s best to go to Albena can be influenced by information about children’s festivals that take place at the resort. The most important events traditionally occur in the summer.

In June, the “Stars of Albena” shine here. Children from different countries come to this talent festival. It’s interesting to be a participant, but it’s even more interesting to be a spectator: you can follow the most interesting performances for a whole week.

In July, Albena hosts the song and dance festival “Friends of Bulgaria”. Once again, spectators are treated to daily concerts in which children and teenagers take part.

Weather and climate

The temperate continental climate of Albena is a real gift for those who want to relax by the sea with their baby. Summer at the resort is hot, but without excessively high temperatures. It is easy for a child to adapt to the summer heat, and acclimatization goes unnoticed.

It is advisable to come to Albena with a baby in June or September, since in the second half of summer the weather is sometimes too hot.

It is most reasonable to plan a vacation with a child for the period from June to September. This is truly the time for the best holiday in Albena with children:

  • the average daily temperature in June is +24°C, in July-August the indicators increase to +26-29°C, and in September the air warms up to +23°C;
  • with the onset of evening the air cools down to +16-18°C - this is conducive to sound sleep;
  • In summer it rains less often than in spring or autumn, although sometimes a holiday in Albena can be spoiled by prolonged bad weather.

In October, Albena's spacious beach becomes empty as daytime temperatures drop to +17°C. From November to March, the resort prepares for the new season, waiting out rains and rare snowfalls. In April, the sun warms the air to +14°C, and in May there are truly summer days.

Sea water temperature

The sea in Albena is amazing - calm, transparent, with a gently sloping sandy bottom. It is not surprising that the first thing children rush to do is swim. But the best time for swimming comes only at the end of June.

At the beginning of summer, the sea temperature is only +20°C, and not everyone can swim in such water. But by July the sea warms up to +23°C, and this temperature is suitable even for small swimmers.

In August, the water temperature rises to +24°C: it is pleasant to cool off in such water after sunbathing. Near the shore, the water can heat up to +28°C - it’s worthy to compare Albena with.

In the first month of autumn, the water temperature in Albena is still good for swimming - the sea maintains a temperature of +22°C. But already in October the water cools down to +18°C.

Sea and beach of Albena

There is only one beach in Albena, but which one - a flat coast 5 km long and 150 m wide covered with fine white sand. Hence the second version of the resort’s name: in Latin the word albus means “white”.

The “blue flag” flies over the coast of Albena from year to year - an award awarded only to the cleanest, most comfortable and safe beaches. Even rows of sun loungers are interspersed with areas where you can sunbathe directly on the sand.

There are changing rooms, showers, toilets on the shore, and a rescue service is available. An unexpected part of the beach infrastructure is a free library with books in different languages.

A beach holiday in Albena is most suitable for parents with children. The shallow and warm sea is the main joy for children who are just learning to swim.

Almost everywhere the depth begins only 100 meters from the shore. The bottom is clearly visible, so even a cautious child can enter the water without fear.

The only drawback of the sandy bottom is by the afternoon the water becomes cloudy, because the kids frolic in the shallow water, picking up sand from the bottom.

There are practically no playgrounds on the shore, but the sandy beach itself serves as a good space for games. During a holiday at sea, a child will definitely need a bucket and a shovel: where else can you find such a large and clean sandbox?

You can use the Albena beach for free. Only the use of umbrellas and sunbeds is paid. First-line hotels often equip the nearest section of the shore themselves - then the use of sunbeds and umbrellas becomes free for guests.

Summer children's camps

A family vacation in Albena can have the following format: parents relax in a hotel, and the grown-up child goes to a children’s camp, in the company of peers. At the resort itself and in the neighboring village of Kranevo there are several camps of different profiles, including the international camp “Brigantina”.

The quality and safety of holidays in Bulgarian camps is highly rated, and if you relax close to your child, your heart will always be at peace.

Treatment

Climatotherapy - the use of the beneficial Bulgarian climate for healing - is available to all vacationers in Albena without exception. However, the resort has a specialized medical center offering climate and balneotherapy.

The main healing factors are the coastal climate, mineral water, sea mud and algae. The resort also has three spa centers, the programs of which are designed for adults.

Good treatment opportunities have been created in Kranevo, where mineral water springs are open. Especially for those who stay in third-line hotels, free shuttles are launched during the high season - they depart every half hour and take vacationers to the beach.

To get to Albena from Varna, you will have to take an intercity minibus. The flight schedule depends on the time of year - additional flights are added during the high season.

Bus tickets can be purchased at the bus station or from the conductor. Children under 7 years of age enjoy free travel, but only with a special transport card. In her absence, you will have to buy tickets for children, although conductors often allow young tourists to travel for free.

Please note that if you are coming from Varna Airport, it will be more convenient to take a taxi, since you will have to walk at least 20 minutes from the Albena bus station to the hotels.

You can also go from Albena to neighboring Balchik. But to travel along the entire coast, you will need to get to Varna, and then change to a bus to, or Burgas.
