Really the best hotel prices

There are many wonderful places to relax on our planet. Spending time there is tantamount to receiving an unforgettable pleasure. The list of such places may be quite large, but in our review we will focus on some of the most popular among European tourists - Thailand, Sri Lanka and Goa. What is remarkable about these resorts, what features do each of them have?

What's good about Sri Lanka

The island of Ceylon, or, is known throughout the world not only for its wonderful tea, but also for its numerous resorts that fill almost the entire coast of the country. Comfort and quality of service here are at their best, since the local leisure industry has a very long history. The beaches of Sri Lanka are washed by the waters of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. They have all the conditions for relaxation for tourists.

The nature of the island of Sri Lanka includes countless species of animals and plants, some of which are endemic, that is, living only here. Local butterflies are especially beautiful - two and a half hundred species live here. Local rivers, lakes and coastal waters are simply teeming with a variety of inhabitants, which creates excellent conditions for diving.

One of the symbols of Sri Lanka is elephants. Meeting these giant and very intelligent animals will make a great impression, especially for those traveling with children.

The best holiday in Goa

Goa is one of the Indian provinces that has gained fame as a magnificent world resort. Here you will find a huge number of attractions that transport tourists to different periods of India's development. But the real pearl of Goa is the local beaches. They are truly magnificent - fine white sand, turquoise waters of the Arabian Sea and a sea of greenery - this is exactly the picture that tourists who come on vacation see. The weather in Goa varies significantly throughout the year, but the best time to visit the state is from July to September.

In addition to the wonderful beaches, it is worth taking time to explore various religious buildings - Christian churches and much more ancient Buddhist temples. It is also worth paying attention and going on excursions to nature reserves, tea and tobacco plantations.

Why is it better to holiday in Thailand?

What kind of place where you can spend time does not need any additional advertising - this is Thailand. Wherever, here tourists will find entertainment for every taste, color and age category. Local resorts, located both on the mainland and on the islands, offer quality holidays in a wide price range. For those eager to plunge into the world of round-the-clock entertainment, you should think about a trip to Phuket or Pattaya; for those who want to relax peacefully with children, a trip to Koh Samui would be a great idea.

In addition to traditional holidays, Thailand is also interesting from the point of view of shopping, because there are a huge number of shops here, ranging from small shops to huge shopping centers in Bangkok.

The only thing that can interfere with a holiday in Thailand is the rainy season, during which the weather is hot and stuffy.

Thailand, Sri Lanka or Goa?

So, let's summarize our review. As you can see from it, each of the above countries has its own unique features, interesting places and attractions. Exotic lovers should go to Goa or Sri Lanka, and lovers of bright colors and entertainment should head straight to Thailand.

👁 Do we book the hotel through booking as always? In the world, not only Booking exists (🙈 for a high percentage from hotels - we pay!). I’ve been using Rumguru for a long time, it’s really more profitable 💰💰 than Booking.
👁 And for tickets, go to air sales, as an option. It has been known about him for a long time 🐷. But there is a better search engine - Skyscanner - there are more flights, lower prices! 🔥🔥.
👁 And finally, the main thing. How to go on a trip without any hassle? Buy now. This is the kind of thing that includes flights, accommodation, meals and a bunch of other goodies for good money 💰💰.

Finally, the long-awaited vacation time has arrived. And this begs a completely logical question: what is better for traveling, Sri Lanka or Goa? Let's try to figure it out.

Price policy

GOA is a state of India. As you know, which is not a very wealthy state. Therefore, prices here are lower for both food and accommodation. But, the choice of products is much richer, especially fruits, in Sri Lanka.

Kitchen

The choice of dishes is wider in GOA. Here you can try absolutely everything. Moreover, the ability of local chefs to use all kinds of seasonings is especially impressive. Thanks to this, each individual dish is absolutely incomparable with anything else.

In Sri Lanka, the menu is less sophisticated. As a rule, local eateries, cafes, and restaurants offer mainly seafood. But not everyone loves them, and besides that, they quickly become boring, and you begin to crave variety.

Those who like to brighten up their leisure time with a glass or other of alcoholic beverages should know that alcohol in GOA is exactly 7 times cheaper than in Sri Lanka.

Beach holiday

But in Sri Lanka the beaches are more attractive. Just look at the “Bounty” types that can be visited in the southwest of the resort. Despite the fact that the coastline here is not wide, the presence of palm trees here creates coolness and shade.

In GOA, the beaches are large, the strip of sand can be from 50 m. In addition, the place is ideal for swimming with children. There are small waves here and the surf is minimal. And the beaches themselves are small. The same cannot be said about Sri Lanka. Where there are very powerful currents and real ocean waves. Swimming here is often unsafe even for adults.

Local population

By and large, the natives at each of the named resorts are quite nice people. Social class in Sri Lanka is almost uniform. That's why there are no beggars here. In GOA, especially in the northern part, such a contingent can be found very often.

Excursion program

There is no extensive cultural program in GOA. Here they prefer a measured rest from the bustle of the world. There are practically no excursions. The beach, delicious and inexpensive food, sea air - this is what tourists enjoy here.

Sri Lanka is rich in ancient monuments, the heritage of the Vedic civilization. Therefore, the number of tours for vacationers is such that the entire vacation is not enough to see everything.

Afterword

Sri Lanka or Goa is an eternal dilemma for tourists. For those who love tranquility, it is better to go to GOA. For lovers of excursions, we recommend Sri Lanka.

Where to find cheap tours?

It’s better to look for profitable tours through a service that compares prices from more than 120 tour operators and allows you to find the cheapest offers. We do this ourselves and are extremely happy :)

How can you compare these two completely opposite countries? I don't know! But at the request of one of our readers, we will still try to conduct some analysis and find out where the vacation will be brighter and bring more pleasure. Please note that this is solely our opinion and some points in the eyes of readers may be disputed.

So, let's begin!

Kitchen

*Indian food rightfully bears the title of one of the most popular cuisines in the world. I think that anyone will find their favorite dishes.

Cheese-Nan (flatbread with cheese) is worth everything, it will not leave your stomach indifferent.

These flatbreads are a hit with Russian tourists.

National dish Tali. It consists of rice and many different sauces, sometimes even yogurt, including potatoes and a large flatbread to boot.

Anyone who has not been to India yet, but is planning to, is advised to try this dish.

Chicken Masala is suitable for frequent consumption by chicken lovers.

One could go on and on about this never-ending list of delicious Indian cuisine. The main distinguishing feature of the dishes is the presence of spices, especially curry. Not a single dish would be complete without them. Connoisseurs of hot chili sauce will be able to enjoy it to their heart's content.

For vegetarians, Indian cuisine is heaven. Fresh fruits, vegetables, potatoes, rice, salads and endless choice.

For dessert, ice cream with strawberries and banana

Passion fruit is not for everyone, looks like someone's brain

During our not so long stay in India, dishes appeared that we look for in every country. For example, I came across Indian cafes, but they absolutely don’t know how to cook Indian food.

The Vietnamese have not learned the art of cooking Indian food

Go to India! You will be 100% satisfied with your food.

*Sri Lankan cuisine is a copy of Indian cuisine. The presence of spices, chicken curry and roti also prevails. This is where the list ends. We really didn't see any Sri Lankan cuisine. But there is no problem with rice. Cheap and different. .

Perhaps seafood dishes are prepared uniquely, we don’t know, since we don’t eat fish, but as for the rest, no changes. There are no favorite dishes. Most products are bland and not at all spicy. In Sri Lanka you don't have to say "no spice". There are few vegetables. Cucumbers are expensive and tomatoes are semi-green.

The fruit selection is not bad, bananas are tasty, pineapples are expensive, and in November we came across mangoes that were not ripe.

There are many types of bananas, delicious - banana heaven

Bottom line: For those who have not been to India, the food in Sri Lanka will seem the most delicious. For those who have been to India, Sri Lankan cuisine will be exactly as I described it.

Animal world

*Animals in India- These are mainly dogs and cows. They live on beaches, near necks, and roam the streets.

The dog humbly waits for his dinner

Indian dog with bindi

Everyone can swim!

There are also cats along the way, but they are not allowed to get close to them.

Man, what do you want from me?)))

Abundance of cows on the roads. This is the most basic thing anyone has seen after visiting.

But cows are not only on the roads, the same situation

Cute pigs are also not uncommon.

Very touching photo

Some people meet snakes on their way or those thrown out on the sand from the ocean, some monkeys on waterfalls, some others. We didn’t get to see many of them.

*Animals in Sri Lanka a lot of. In addition to the same stray dogs, there are many more, the locals do not like them and often drive them away.

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

You can't stop admiring Sri Lanka...

green-eyed taxi

We met two types of monkeys.

First view. Large individuals similar to humans

Type two. No comments.

Large monitor lizards, chipmunks, exotic birds and lovely minks or mongooses.

The fauna here is all right and even more so.

Indian Ocean

*In India, the Indian Ocean is not always and not always clean. We were on the beaches of Anjuna.

The water is approximately the same. There is no transparency. The color is cloudy and somewhat grayish.

The waves are not small, but this does not interfere with swimming.

*On the beaches of Sri Lanka the situation is much better. The water is very beautiful and the color is sometimes turquoise, especially in.

Of course, there are days when the stinking river flows into the zone of floating people and there is a lot of garbage, but this is more a rarity than a given.

The favorite place of monitor lizards is stinking rivers

The waves can be very strong, the only exception being the beach and some places in Unawatuna.

Beach

That very special place on the Hikkaduwa beach where there are big waves and you can surf

At the end of Unawatuna beach, large waves crash onto the reef

Beach

* Sand on Goa beaches great. Small and hot.

For example, it’s long, there’s enough room for everyone.

The atmosphere is groovy. Entry into the water is convenient and the main thing that attracts is that there are no stones.

You can walk along the bottom barefoot and not worry about your feet.

* Beach area of Sri Lanka Somewhere more, somewhere less, it’s different. The sand feels pleasant to the touch, but entering the water is terrible. There are no stones in Mirissa, sometimes in Hikaduwa, but usually there are a few.

But in Unawatuna they are visible and invisible. Sharp and large, they hit your legs when entering the sea.

Vast areas of the beach in Unawatuna now look exactly like this, so it’s better to go swimming where there are no waves, it’s cleaner there, although there are also pebbles

At the bottom there are blocks of stones and sharp small fragments.

Cloth

*Indian clothes Not everyone will like it, but many people prefer this style. This is especially true for independent travelers or tourists who have fallen in love with this country.

Colorful, unusual, embroidered with beads and stones. Aladdin pants, saris, shoulder bags in Rastafarian style, interesting sundresses and flowing dresses. The assortment is huge. There is always something to buy.

*Lankan clothing…. Does she exist? Did not see…. Stalls with tasteless rags called dresses, a few panties in the Indian version and that’s it.

Purity

*India is far from being a clean or at least not very dirty country.

For an unprepared person, this will seem scary

In some places there is garbage on the streets, there are no garbage dumps, and because of this there are a lot of cockroaches and rats. All this is rotting and no one is cleaning it up.

* Sri Lanka is cleaner. I won’t say that the differences are completely dramatic, but they are noticeable. Several urns catch your eye. Roads without litter.

Sri Lankans wrap the accumulated garbage from their homes in a bag and place it in specially designated places, where they are picked up by scavengers early in the morning.

The streets look decent too

Of course, in Sri Lanka there are such places of pollution that you can easily imagine that you are now in India) And yet cleanliness and the absence of large accumulations of dirt are not typical of Sri Lanka.

Local population

* We cannot discuss Hindus objectively, because they spent much less time in India, but their attitude towards tourists is hundreds of times more positive than. Even their smiles and beaming faces showed so much positivity that unpleasant moments passed us by.

Of course, on the beaches and streets, vacationers are offered to buy junk and bracelets. There are a lot of children and for some reason they rarely cry.

No one grabs your hand and looks at you with challenge. Hindus are harmonious and hospitable.

We felt safe in Goa, although if you come to Delhi and Mumbai, I think the situation will be different.

* There are many rumors about Sri Lankans, which later turn out to be not rumors, but pure truth. We had an idea to write a separate post about the population, but I don’t even want to think about them. above the roof.

Firstly, the male sex likes to drink, they buy bottles of rum and drag themselves to the beach already under the influence of alcohol. Secondly, while drinking, young people smoke weed, which is supposedly illegal in this country, but everyone smokes it. Thirdly, male aggression is in the air, coming from the majority who work with tourists.

Anyone who reads this post should not judge harshly. Everyone has their own views on which country is better, India (Goa) or Sri Lanka, as well as a personalized experience.

A reasonable question on the eve of a vacation that many tourists ask: “Which country to choose, India, going to GOA, or Sri Lanka, visiting the sights and soaking up the clean sand?” Which of these destinations is better to choose for a winter holiday?

In this article we will try to find the answer.

First, let's decide what we want from our vacation.

Despite the fact that the resorts of Sri Lanka and GOA are in approximately the same price category for the cost of the tour (Sri Lanka is a little more expensive, but not significantly), and even despite the fact that they are quite close to each other geographically , it must still be said that these are two different types of vacation destinations.

Holiday price comparison

GOA - if you don’t already know, is one of the states in India whose residents are not too rich, hence the correct conclusions - prices for housing and food here are cheaper than in Sri Lanka. In addition, there are other nuances. For example, in GOA you will 100% not find such a variety of choice of fruits and vegetables. The author of the article, who visited there, was under the impression that the fruit simply does not grow in India, or that it is too expensive to be popular. For example, it’s trivial to buy a watermelon; you won’t be able to buy them in GOA; if they are available, they are literally in one shop in the entire village, and they are very sluggish and not tasty. In Sri Lanka, leaving any hotel, you will find a huge abundance of all kinds of exotic fruits.

Nutrition

Personally, I really like Indian cuisine; it is not for nothing that it is considered the best in taste all over the world. The ability of the Indians to use seasonings, changing the taste of literally everything, has never been surpassed by anyone. At the same time, despite the rather limited initial products, they manage to greatly diversify the number of dishes. (I ate kebab, it really tasted like fried meat, but softer, then it turned out that it was fried cheese with seasonings). In Sri Lanka, the cuisine is much less refined; they mainly cook fresh seafood, which, I don’t know about anyone, but I quickly get bored. By the way, fish is very expensive in GOA, twice as expensive as in Sri Lanka, and there is very little choice there. If you like to add alcohol to a hearty table, then again, GOA is the leader. Alcohol in Sri Lanka is 7 times more expensive than in Goa.

Beaches

Sri Lanka definitely has more beautiful beaches. On the beaches of the southwestern part of the island, you will find "bounty beaches", with palm trees curved towards the water's edge, gentle sea and deserted beaches. At the same time, the shore is not too wide, but combined with the huge palm trees hanging right down to the water, you get both coolness and shade. The beaches in Goa are huge. The width of the sand strip is from 50 m and wider. The beaches are also clean, but there are very few palm trees here, and the views are completely different. In a word, the beaches here are more like a typical swimming place in the seas of our Motherland in warm weather. It should be noted that if you are traveling with children, GOA is much more suitable for swimming than Sri Lanka. Very strong currents, as well as real ocean waves on the beaches of Sri Lanka, coupled with a rather steep sunset, make even adults refuse to swim. In Goa, the surf is very light, the waves are small, the beaches are very shallow, it’s nice to splash around and you don’t have to worry about the children being pulled into the water or caught by the current.

People

As for me, Asians are the nicest people. Not aggressive, not intrusive. In Sri Lanka the society is more evenly educated, there are no beggars, and there are much fewer people. In GOA, especially if you are a traveler to the north, you will always be pestered by souvenir vendors on the beach. There are practically none on the south side. In Sri Lanka molested no. Another interesting feature of India is that on Friday and Saturday, there will be a huge number of people on the beaches who will come from the interior states of India to “get drunk” for the weekend.

For reference: In India, alcohol is prohibited in all states except Goa, so a bunch of drunk young people will be somewhat annoying on Friday and Saturday evenings. On Sunday they will all leave.

When is the best time to relax?

The ideal season for both resorts is from December to April. So here no one is running ahead of the other.

Cultural program, excursions

Don’t get me wrong, GOA is freedom, there is nothing there, no one wants to sell you anything, there is nowhere to go, but you can go wherever your eyes look. There is nothing to see there, there are no particularly interesting excursions either, in general - freedom, fresh air, excellent sea, booze and excellent cheap food. What else do you need for life? Sri Lanka has a huge heritage of Vedic civilization, ancient architectural monuments, many of which are included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage of Humanity. If you count all the available excursions in Sri Lanka, with an overview of the main attractions, then 2 weeks will not be physically enough for you to visit them all.

conclusions

If you are a supporter of passive pastime - and eat exclusively on a beach holiday, with children, if you like to eat well, drink and sleep - you are better off in GOA. If you are interested in getting in touch with one of the most ancient civilizations on Earth, if you are drawn to a thirst for cultural enrichment during your vacation, choose Sri Lanka. However, if you are a show-off, and you don’t care about piles of stones, if your main goal is to update your profile in VKontakte, you should go to the beaches of the south of Ceylon. You will find colorful scenery and romantic sunsets there.

I also recommend that newlyweds go to Sri Lanka; there are many, albeit for money, all sorts of sentimental events that are so typical for young people starting their life together. For example, releasing a small turtle into the sea, petting a wounded animal, listening to the tearful story of a lonely heron - all this is well staged here and is only waiting for your consent.

So, where is it better to relax - in Goa or Sri Lanka? This is the most popular question that my friends, clients and colleagues have been asking me over the past two weeks. Everyone will choose a place to relax on their own, because, in my deep conviction, it is good WHERE WE ARE. I will only try, with the help of a comparative figurative description, to help respected travelers decide on which beaches to unforgettably spend their precious time.
Let's start with the basics - geography.
Sri Lanka is an island in the Indian Ocean. Goa is not an island, or even a peninsula, as many mistakenly believe, but the smallest state of India on the coast of the Arabian Sea. What does this mean for us tourists?
First of all, the climate. There is high humidity in Sri Lanka, which can be especially clearly seen from such everyday facts as clothes that practically do not dry. This fact must be taken into account by people who are sensitive to air humidity. In Goa, this factor is much more comfortable; it takes almost no time to adapt the body to new natural conditions.
Nature. Before visiting Sri Lanka, it seemed to me that Goa had the most lush tropical vegetation that exists on the planet. It seemed) Sri Lanka is a real tropical riot. Tall beautiful palm trees of bizarre shapes, everything is so green and beautiful, you get the impression that you are constantly in the jungle. This is also associated with a large number of diverse living creatures, the number of which in a week in Sri Lanka exceeded everything I saw and heard from the animal world in Goa in six months. Sea turtles of different sizes, including giant ones, which can emerge from the ocean next to you - this is fun, they are good-natured, but the same cannot be said about monitor lizards the size of a crocodile.
Beaches. Sri Lanka is very beautiful and picturesque. Surrounded by palm trees bent over the water, the turquoise water looks especially romantic, like pictures from the most “photoshopped” catalogs come to life. Very strong waves. If the beach is not surrounded by a bay, such as Unawatuna, getting in and out of the water is very problematic. Rocky reliefs add picturesqueness, but the rocky bottom creates additional difficulties; special shoes for swimming are still very desirable. In Goa, the sea is almost calm until the onset or approach of the rainy season. All popular beaches, except Vagator, have a sandy bottom. Goa has very wide, spacious beaches; in Sri Lanka the coastline is very narrow.
Purity. Sri Lanka is CLEAN. And on the beaches, and on the streets, and at train stations. In Goa, in some places it’s normal, in others it’s almost clean, in the train stations and markets it’s dirty.
Roads. Almost ideal in Sri Lanka, very specific, with a lot of speed bumps and crazy traffic in Goa.
Housing. 5 star hotels are good everywhere. Three stars in Goa, with very rare exceptions, are suspiciously colored bed linen, cleanliness and equipment of the room with a clear hint that people do not fly to Goa to sit in the room. In Sri Lanka, the level of hotels is much higher. As for private apartments and villas, in Goa such accommodation options are quite decent, but, unlike Sri Lanka, without much attention to aesthetics and design.
Prices. For renting private apartments, guesthouses and villas, for food in restaurants and cafes, for fruit, in Sri Lanka it is almost twice as expensive as in Goa, with much less variety of everything. Hotel prices are not in the same proportion, but still higher.
Entertainment. If you did not fly to Sri Lanka to a hotel that provides an entertainment program, then it simply does not exist outside the hotel. Nothing that Goa is so famous for - parties, discos, trance parties, concerts on the beach, night markets with entertainment, bars, etc. – not in Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka it is problematic to buy alcohol and cigarettes, even in large supermarkets; this is not Goa, with its rum and gin for $2, easily accessible cigarettes (and not just ordinary ones)). In general, for parties, dating - only in Goa. For a relaxing romantic or hotel holiday, go to Sri Lanka.
People. Goa is fun, partly because of the local population. Indians are good-natured, with their own specific character traits: for example, they will tell you the price of something 10 times higher than the real one, and they will laugh at it with you)))) Sri Lankans are harsh (maybe because they fought recently, but maybe Islam, which is widespread here, makes people tougher), in tourist places they will be smiling and friendly with you, but outside of them - not always. There is a lot of information about aggressive behavior towards women on the part of Sri Lankans; I did not notice such manifestations towards myself, but I did notice signs of very persistent and impolite attention towards women without companions.
Attractions. Both in Goa and Sri Lanka, there is something to see, a place to visit, and you will certainly enjoy traveling around the country.
Goa and Sri Lanka are wonderful exotic resorts with their own characteristics. You definitely need to visit here. Where first and where later is up to you to decide. I hope my recommendations will be useful to you.
