Vasily Stepanovich Pustovoit (January 2 (14), the village of Taranovka now Zmievsky district, Kharkov region - October 11, city Krasnodar) - Head of the Department of Breeding and Seed Production and the Laboratory of Sunflower Breeding of the All-Union Research Institute of Oilseeds.

A bronze bust of V. S. Pustovoit was installed on the territory of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Oilseeds, which bears his name. Streets are named after the Hero Krasnodar And Armavir (Krasnodar region). The Russian tanker Akademik Pustovoit is also named after him.

For special merits in the development of agriculture and achievement of high indicators in the production of agricultural products by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated October 31 1957 Vasily Stepanovich Pustovoit was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle gold medal.
For outstanding services in the development of agricultural science, the development and introduction into production of high-oil sunflower varieties by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 10th 1963 Pustovoit Vasily Stepanovich was awarded the second gold medal “Hammer and Sickle”.
