Bottled water: choosing the best. Which bottled water should you choose? Research by Roskachetsva: packaged drinking water without gas Which bottled water to choose for drinking

Drinking bottled water is an extremely popular product, and that is why it is very attractive to scammers who dream of making money by selling counterfeit products. It is very simple to make: neither expensive ingredients nor complex equipment is needed to produce bottled water. According to the most rough estimates, from 30 to 60% of the water purchased by Russians is fake. A housewife who constantly buys this product for her family should know how to choose quality water and not let the sellers deceive her.

What does “correct” water look like?

In accordance with trade rules, any officially operating seller can offer their customers drinking water of only two categories: first and highest. A product of the first category is water of any origin (including tap water), purified from impurities using filters and disinfected in order to get rid of pathogens. Water of the highest category is obtained from deep artesian wells or springs. It must comply with the strictest GOST standards and be checked according to 37 safety parameters.

Unfortunately, not all such products that end up on store shelves are produced in compliance with regulations. Having bought a bottle, you may well find in it a liquid that you encounter every day when you open the tap in the kitchen: rusty, smelling of bleach and very unpleasant in taste. In order not to waste money in vain and to bring home water that can definitely be consumed without prior boiling, you need to carefully study the label on the bottle before purchasing. It should indicate:

  • Full name of the manufacturer, its actual and legal addresses;
  • Bottling date and expiration date (for water packaged in plastic bottles - no more than 18 months; for goods in glass containers - up to two years);
  • Storage conditions;
  • Name of the customer company;
  • Number and date of issue of the certificate of state registration of the product;
  • Water hardness and degree of mineralization;
  • List of cations and anions included in the product;
  • Barcode;
  • The name of GOST or TU, which corresponds to the quality of water.

It is better not to buy a product that does not have some of these data on its packaging. In addition, the appearance of the bottle, cork and label can tell an experienced housewife a lot. The container must be smooth, transparent, free from scratches and abrasions, and the cork must be tightly screwed. For water packaged by an official manufacturer, the label is usually glued evenly and tightly, without bubbles or distortions. Drinking bottled water cannot contain sediment or visible impurities.

We should also talk about the rules for choosing canteen, medicinal table and medicinal bottled waters. Many Russians drink them for medicinal or health purposes. These products also often become objects of falsification: to make a fake, table salt, baking soda and other substances are dissolved in ordinary tap water to imitate the characteristic salty or bitter taste. When purchasing medicinal or table waters, you must remember that bottling plants cannot be located far from natural sources, since the unique composition of the water can only be preserved by capping it immediately after extraction. The most popular table and medicinal waters should be produced:

  • Perrier water - near the town of Verges, located in the south of France;
  • “Seltzer” - in Germany, next to the Selters source, located near the city of Lunberg;
  • "Borjomi" - in Georgia (manufacturer is IDS Borjomi Georgia);
  • “Arkhyz” - in the village of the same name, located in Karachay-Cherkessia;
  • "Narzan" - in the city of Kislovodsk;
  • "Essentuki" - in the resort town of the same name. Each bottle must indicate where the water came from (for example, Essentuki No. 17 - from well No. 46, and Essentuki No. 4 - from well No. 49-E).

The purchase of mineralized waters should be approached with extreme caution: they are consumed exclusively “raw”, and often for medicinal purposes. Even greater care is required when choosing drinking water intended for baby food. It must undergo the most stringent testing to ensure compliance with safety requirements. It is better to buy such a product in specialized stores and baby food departments.

Fake bottled water and health risks

Drinking water that has not undergone proper purification (and even more so, spilled or artificially “mineralized” in unsanitary conditions) can lead to the following results:

  • Infection with various pathogens, including pathogens of dysentery, hepatitis and other serious illnesses;
  • The occurrence of allergic reactions;
  • The development of diseases of the blood and cardiovascular system after ingestion of excess amounts of iron compounds;
  • Poisoning with toxic substances (for example, phenol), causing severe damage to the kidneys and liver.

According to experts, bottled water produced in accordance with regulations cannot be too cheap. This means that saving in this case is very unsafe. If you cannot afford to buy high quality water, it is better not to risk it. In such a situation, it makes sense to purchase a household filter and additionally boil the tap water passed through it in order to consume a guaranteed harmless product.

To drink or not to drink. Many or few? How do you know how much is needed? Which one to choose? Boil, silver, shungite, coral or drink melted water? These questions about water interest all wise men. You too, right?

Nowadays, when the market is oversaturated with offers, it is quite difficult to understand which water is more beneficial for the body. New discoveries refute previously known facts, new studies are commissioned that prove, show and tell... As a result, we are already buying “special children’s” water, not understanding the absurdity of the definition itself.

Let's try to figure out how to choose the right water

Raw or boiled?

Here the opinion is literally unanimous - raw is better, since it is saturated with minerals and important trace elements. After boiling, they precipitate, making the water “dead” and incapable of regenerating the body and rejuvenating.

During the boiling process, chlorine (we are talking about chlorinated, city water - author's note) reacts with organic substances. Such compounds are more dangerous to the body than pure chlorine.

If it is necessary to disinfect water and prepare hot drinks, it is more rational to just bring it to a boil and consume immediately. For boiling, it is better not to use tap water, but bottled or any other water that has been pre-purified.

How to choose “raw” water?

The water should be soft. It doesn’t matter whether it’s bottled or spring, from a well or a river. Soft water is the one that contains a smaller amount of dissolved alkaline earth metal salts. For the most part, the waters on our planet are hard due to calcium. For the best effect for the main mission of water (dissolution and transport of substances), such water can also be acidified. As a result, you get a real elixir of youth and beauty. Therefore, to the question - which water is correct, the answer has been found - choose one in which the content of calcium ions does not exceed 20 mg/l, acidify it with organic acids (lemon juice, for example) and drink! Of course, the water must first undergo bacterial purification. All bottled and tap water must pass this test.

1. Drinking bottled

The most common water today is industrially purified water intended for use in coolers or for bottling into small bottles. It must meet WHO standards.

There are several types of such water:

  • artificial purification - water of the first category, if the technology is followed, its quality is high, it is almost impossible to achieve such purification at home;
  • natural artesian water is the highest rank water.

When choosing bottled types, it is important to identify a trusted and reliable manufacturer and supplier. You can submit samples for analysis to a specialized laboratory and check whether the results correspond to the declared ones.

2. Tap

You should completely avoid eating it. In addition to rust, it contains chlorine and toxic compounds.

3. Spring and distilled

Spring water recognized as the best, because nature itself took care of its creation and purification. True, there are almost no clean springs left...

This water is real, purified in several stages and saturated with microelements. However, which ones exactly are determined by the type of terrain. City springs are unlikely to produce healthy water. Most likely, it contains an abundance of heavy metal salts, bacteria, toxins and debris. But far from busy life and industry, you can certainly find clean drinking water.

Also today, spring water is supplied to stores. Again, the main criterion here is the seller’s integrity, since the product may turn out to be just tap water.

In any case, before taking water from a particular source, you should do an analysis and make sure it is safe.

Distilled water- this is water that first turned into steam, and then cooled and settled/precipitated as a liquid. Dew, rain, snow and so on are all distilled water.

And of course it is useful. This water is considered the purest. It all depends on where and what kind of sediment to collect. In industrial areas of China it is better not to eat snow :).
In fact, it does not matter how healthy this or that water is considered. Always remember in moderation. You need to drink 2 liters or more only when you are sick or eat a lot of protein foods.

4. Mineral

Mineral water is extracted from natural sources. It is characterized by a high salt content and, since such waters pass through soils rich in minerals.

Wise eaters are against any mineralized water. This one is so, by the way. It is worth knowing that the abundance of minerals and salts in water does not allow food to be absorbed and replenish fluid levels. A vicious circle arises - we drink more, as a result we eat more, and, consequently, we get sick and/or feel unwell.

5. Melt

Opinions about it vary; some believe that when tap water is frozen and then defrosted, it completely gets rid of harmful compounds, others believe that it is not possible to obtain high-quality melt water at home. However, it is still safer than tap water. So it's up to you.

Is it possible to purify water at home?

For home cleaning, you can choose a household filter. But it is important to conduct a laboratory assessment of the purified water. After all, different filters are designed to neutralize different salts and compounds.

Most of them effectively soften water, making it healthier. The filter should not completely purify the water, since in this case it will cease to be truly alive.
A reverse osmosis filter is considered more expensive and at the same time more effective. You can read about it on the Internet.

How much water should you drink and why?

The opinion that you need to drink a specific number of liters per day is deeply mistaken. The amount of water is determined individually. What is good for one may be deadly for another and vice versa. So think twice before advising your friend or neighbor to drink or not drink.

The lethal dose is 7-8 liters per day. This dose can be much lower if a person has problems with the cardiovascular system.

Let's summarize

Water is the most important component of our body. It ensures efficiency, movement, functioning of all systems, cells, tissue regeneration and cleansing of toxins. Take care of her and she will save you...

Be healthy and pure, like a distillate :)

As soon as summer takes its toll and it gets hot, we remember that we need to drink water. A plastic bottle with a trust-inspiring label can be bought on every corner these days, but do you know the origin of the water you drink? We tell you how to choose table water for drinking, as well as mineral water for medicinal purposes.

How to choose drinking water

  • The shelf life of water in a plastic bottle is one and a half years, in a glass bottle - up to two years.
  • The most difficult thing to counterfeit is mineral water in a glass bottle.
  • Pay attention to the label: it must be high-quality printed, easily readable, glued evenly and neatly.
  • Reputable manufacturers always indicate what kind of water is contained in the bottle: drinking, carbonated, mineral, medicinal, table. You can only drink table water without restrictions. Healing mineral water is a medicine and has indications and contraindications.
  • If the water bears the name of a source, find the address of the production on the label - it should be located near this source.
  • There is no sediment or suspension in a bottle of high-quality drinking water.
  • Remember: a high price does not guarantee high quality!

Artesian water is obtained from deep underground springs. This is a storehouse of minerals necessary for the human body to function. Choose it, and not just purified tap water, which, going through the stages of purification, has lost all its beneficial properties.

Mineral water Perrier is one of the most famous brands in the world. Mineral water in pot-bellied glass bottles is sold in 140 countries. It is bottled from sources in the south of France near the town of Vergeza. Perrier has recently produced water with the addition of lemon or lime - it quenches thirst well and does not contain artificial flavors.

Real "Seltzer" is a mineral water with a low carbon dioxide content, from a source in Germany, located in the city of Lenberg and named after Queen Augusta Victoria. The name of seltzer water comes from the German mineral spring Selters, known throughout Europe in the 19th century.

Real Borjomi mineral water Today only one company produces it - IDS Borjomi Georgia, part of the international IDS Borjomi International. "Borjomi" in bottles is sold only carbonated. For those who drink it for medicinal purposes, doctors recommend releasing the gas first.

"Arkhyz"- This is low-mineralized drinking water that is suitable for adults and children. It is mined in the village of the same name in Karachay-Cherkessia.

"Narzan"- this is not the general name of a type of mineral water, but a mineral spring in Kislovodsk. There cannot be any “Narzans” coming from other places, unless they are fake.

"Essentuki"- not just a brand, this water must be bottled from a well located at the Essentuki mineral water deposit. Look on the Essentuki label for the exact well number. Water from the Essentuki spring has varying degrees of mineralization. For example, the concentration of salts in Essentuki-17 water is 9.2-13.0 g/l; this is the most mineralized, very salty-tasting medicinal water. The mineralization of Essentuki-4 water is lower - 6.0-9.0 g/l, therefore it is classified as medicinal table water.

A person needs from one and a half to three liters of clean water daily - this does not take into account liquid taken with food (for example, with soup or tea).

Choosing mineral water

  • The label of medicinal mineral waters always indicates for which diseases they should be consumed.
  • The label must indicate: address and phone numbers of the manufacturer, well number, water composition, date of manufacture, storage conditions and period, GOST number, date of chemical analysis and name of the laboratory.
  • The presence of salts gives mineral water its specific taste.
  • If the water contains any components that are unique to it, they should also be listed on the label.
  • Hydrocarbonate water has a slightly soapy taste.
  • Mineral water is brackish due to the presence of chlorides.
  • Sulfates give water a bitter taste.
  • Expensive mineral water is not always the best. Often these are marketing costs and overhead costs.

Sales of bottled drinking water are increasing annually. We buy bottles of water not only on the street, but also use them at home, refusing tap water.

Demand always gives rise to supply, but these offers may not always be safe. Experts from the non-profit partnership Roskontrol conducted research in laboratory conditions to understand which brand of bottled water you can drink without fear for your health.

Let's figure out what we're drinking. Perhaps the water you buy every day is completely unsuitable for consumption.

Characteristics of proper water

In order for water to be safe, it must be free of bacteria and microorganisms and not contain hazardous substances. To meet quality standards, water must contain about 50 useful microelements and substances. Only such water can become a complete source of minerals and trace elements for the human body.

Also, water must comply with all indicators stated on the label - from category to quantitative ratio of elements. Only water that contains the appropriate amount of necessary substances will be considered high quality and good.
And of course, the water should be tasty.

For testing, Roskontrol selected 12 popular brands of drinking and mineral water at prices ranging from 20 to 150 rubles per one and a half liters: Shishkin Les, Bonaqua, Holy Source, Evian, Lipetsk Pump Room, Cristaline, Vittel, Simply ABC", Nestle Pure Life, Aparan, Aqua Minerale, "D (Dixie)".

Based on the results of the testing, a rating of brands was compiled using a 100-point system in four areas: naturalness, usefulness, safety and taste. Experts assumed that safe water is water that does not contain harmful impurities and does not pose a threat to human health.

  • Still drinking water "D" (Dixie) 86
  • Vittel mineral still 72
  • Evian mineral still 71
  • "Lipetsky Buvette" drinking non-carbonated 66
  • Aqua Minerale drinking non-carbonated 61
  • Nestle Pure Life drinking non-carbonated 59
  • "Prosto Azbuka" drinking non-carbonated blacklisted
  • "Shishkin Les" drinking non-carbonated blacklisted
  • Bonaqua drinking non-carbonated blacklisted
  • Cristaline drinking non-carbonated blacklisted
  • Aparan drinking non-carbonated blacklisted
  • blacklisted

You can drink this water: rating winners

Based on the results of the study, experts identified 6 brands of bottled water that can be consumed without fear for your health.

Water "D" (trademark "Dixie") received the highest rating based on the combination of all four indicators. It is recognized as the most useful and contains the optimal composition of minerals and trace elements necessary for the human body. This water, which is also sold at the lowest price, has a composition as close as possible to the ideal in terms of the content of the necessary microelements. It contains everything necessary and lacks everything harmful. This brand corresponds to the price-quality ratio and the category declared by the manufacturer.

French-made Vittel water has confirmed its naturalness and safety, but it was found to have insufficient fluoride content. The disadvantages of Vittel water include its high cost.

"Lipetsk pump room" -
Fairly safe water, according to experts. It corresponds to the declared first category.Experts considered the Lipetsk pump room to be the most delicious water, but it lacks higher mineralization. Alsotests have shown that it does not contain the maximum amount of minerals, and some elements, such as fluorine, do not meet the standard at all.

Evian water also meets safety requirements, and more calcium and magnesium are found in it than in the other 11 brands of water. But this water does not contain the necessary fluorine at all, despite its naturalness.

Aqua Minerale is safe water, but it cannot be called healthy either. It does not contain calcium or magnesium, but they are listed on the label. At the same time, it contains the required amount of fluoride.

Nestle Pure Life
scored the least number of points among good bottled water. The reason is that during cleaning it almost completely lost its beneficial properties, it was too poor in the content of the necessary substances.

Black list

The remaining brands were blacklisted by Roskontrol experts and can be dangerous for buyers for a number of reasons.

Water "Simply ABC"
(trademark "Azbuka Vkusa") was included in this list due to the fact that it can hardly be called pure. The number of harmful microorganisms contained in it exceeds the norm tens of times. At the same time, there is almost no fluorine, potassium and magnesium in the water. This water contains 70 times more microbes, which exceeds all permissible standards.

Water "Shishkin Les" deliberately deceives its consumers with its label, not corresponding to the declared category and the amount of useful microelements. It does not contain magnesium and calcium. It can only be consumed occasionally, but not on a regular basis. In addition, “Shishkin Les” contains an increased amount of bicarbonates, and this is contraindicated for people with kidney problems or decreased secretion of gastric juice. However, there is not a word about these contraindications on the label.

Bonaqua water According to research results, it also turned out to be unsafe. It is spilled from a source contaminated with sewage and poses a danger to consumers. This water does not correspond to the declared category. It also has too little fluoride.

Water Cristaline is unsafe for the health of consumers, as it contains an increased level of toxicity. She was also blacklisted because the stated characteristics did not correspond to reality. This water contains nitrites, organic contaminants and does not contain essential calcium and magnesium.

Aparan water Armenian production exceeds the permissible norm of nitrates and microorganisms harmful to health. In water, the indicator of harmful microorganisms was exceeded by 3.5 times. This water may contain dysentery bacillus, salmonella, and other dangerous bacteria. In addition to bacteria, it also contains nitrates, toxic and carcinogenic substances; the toxicity of this particular water exceeds the norm by 40 times.

Water "Holy Spring" poorly cleaned, the level of organic pollution in it is off the charts. This water also has a reduced content of beneficial substances, such as fluoride. This is not water of the highest category, since it contains an inappropriate amount of minerals and beneficial elements.

How to choose the best bottled water?

DRINKING WATER

Drinking water of the first category must be safe first and foremost. To prove its safety, it is necessary to check in the laboratory not only whether it contains, for example, microbes. It is necessary to test the water for 93 indicators.

For example, on water bottles "Bon Aqua" And "Aqua Minerale" it is written: water from a centralized water supply source, that is, tap water.

Is this water safe for health? Yes. Useful? Not always. There are already few useful elements in water from surface sources, and the use of modern purification methods often reduces their content to zero.

Why is it so important that water contains minerals and trace elements in certain quantities?

Andrey Mosov, head of the expert direction of NP Roskontrol, doctor:

“There is such a concept - the physiological usefulness of drinking water. If the water lacks some minerals and trace elements, then it will not be complete and beneficial for humans. If there is no calcium and magnesium in the water, then the consumption of such water will contribute to the development of a deficiency of these substances in the body. Calcium is the main element of our skeletal system, magnesium is necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous system and heart. A lack of fluoride causes caries, a lack of iodine causes thyroid disease.”

It is drinking water of the highest category that is the safest and healthiest.

MINERAL WATER

Under no circumstances should you drink mineral water without restrictions. It, like any medicine, must be prescribed by a doctor, in certain doses, in a certain course. That's why it's called a medical dining room.

What's going on here? Medicinal and medicinal table mineral water (such as "Narzan", "Essentuki", "Borjomi") is sold in any store. People buy, drink and do not pay attention to the small print “Medical indications for use.”

ARTESIAN WATER

This is water that is extracted from wells, from where it flows under pressure. Typically these are wells at least 100 meters deep, drilled into aquifers protected from contamination. Therefore, bacteria and harmful chemicals that are on the surface, as a rule, are not there.

The water is purified by passing through natural filter rocks, but at the same time it is saturated with various minerals. Passing through limestone, it “collects” calcium and magnesium. And passing through other layers and ores, it is saturated with other substances, not always useful. Most often, iron. And this is not the iron that is found in meat and apples. Iron in the compounds in which it is found in drinking water is not absorbed by the body, but it spoils the taste of water, and in large quantities can cause gastrointestinal disorders.

Yuri Rakhmanin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Director of the Research Institute of Human Ecology and Environmental Hygiene named after. A.N. Sysina:

“Artesian water needs careful study and detailed analysis. In some cases, when it contains too many harmful substances, it not only cannot be drunk, but even used for domestic purposes. It happens that all elements are normal, but one element at a time is 5 or even 10 times higher, and, of course, such water cannot be consumed in unlimited quantities. There are artesian springs, which contain physiologically valuable water created by nature. Manufacturers who bottle water from such wells are very lucky. They only need to carry out minimal purification and treatment of the water, and that’s it - it’s ready for packaging. But there are very few such sources.”

BABY WATER

A child needs water more than an adult. A growing organism needs 2-3 times more water. That is, if an adult weighing 60 kg needs 2 liters of water per day, then a three-year-old child, whose weight is 4 times less, drinks 1-1.3 liters of water per day.

What if this water contains iron, lead, arsenic and other toxic substances? They are deposited in the child’s body 2-3 times more.

A child needs special children's drinking water, in which the composition of minerals and trace elements is ideally balanced.

GLACIER, MOUNTAIN AND MELT WATER

Since ancient times, people have attributed life-giving powers to melt water, and even in the scientific community there is an opinion that it actually has special properties.

According to some data, melt water accelerates plant growth and increases the biological activity of living organisms. When water freezes, its structure changes, and the water that is formed as a result of the melting of glaciers on mountain peaks is indeed cleaner and healthier than, for example, water from rivers, polluted as a result of human mismanagement and then disinfected with chlorine.

conclusions

The safest, highest quality and healthiest water for adults - drinking water of the highest category.

For children - special children's drinking water(not mineral!) water. This is the only water you can drink every day in unlimited quantities.

Mineral water medicinal and, especially, medicinal can only be taken as prescribed by a doctor.
