DIY braided dog leash. DIY dog harness: making a stylish collar

Sociologists report that 41% of Russian residents own dogs. Among other pets, only cats are ahead in number of “man’s best friends.” This is not surprising; after all, a dog is an animal that requires a person to invest much more time and money than other representatives of the tailed animals. The average Bobik living in a city apartment definitely needs at least one set of collar and leash. Unfortunately, prices for ammunition are rising every year. But experienced dog lovers know perfectly well how to save money and provide their pet with a set of accessories for any occasion. This article reveals their secrets on how to make a leash with your own hands from available materials.

A little theory

A leash is a thing that is required by law for every dog, regardless of its breed, size or place of residence. Taking its origins from a tethering chain, this tool became not only a restraining device during a walk, but also a method of controlling the animal during the training process. Before we start talking about how to make a leash for a dog, it’s worth talking a little about its types.

Daily leash

Model for walking animals. Can be from 1.5 to 3 meters long. Most often, such a leash is made of leather, nylon or canvas, with one carabiner and a handle. A reliable option, the easiest to manufacture. Can be supplemented with a soft handle, reflective tape or shock-absorbing elastic. The training option is a leash of the same design, but 10 meters long.

Re-strap leash

Allows you to change the length by one and a half to two times. Convenient for quickly changing the size of the leash, as well as for tying up the dog. The manufacture uses metal half rings sewn along the length of the leash, as well as one or two carabiners.

Roulette leash

Thanks to the internal mechanism, it twists and unwinds without sagging or dragging on the ground. may be convenient as a walking option for owners of small and medium breeds. Not recommended for strong animals, as the roulette mechanism cannot withstand sudden jerks. Such a leash can be tape or cable, but it is worth remembering that anyone teaches the animal to pull. Unfortunately, this is the only model, the manufacture of which at home is almost impossible without specialized materials.

Lead leash

A short model, usually about 50 centimeters long. Designed for increased control over strong and tall dogs in the city. It is a long loop with a carbine, worn on the hand. The design does not allow the animal to move away from the owner’s leg. This option is distinguished by the presence of a reinforced carabiner, and often a shock absorber.

Exhibition leash

Otherwise called “ringovka”. The model, as a rule, without a carabiner, with a choke collar. Thin and light, the ring is chosen not for walking with dogs, but for showing them in the exhibition ring.

How to make a leash: step one. Selection of accessories

The main thing that factory models can boast of, especially if they are produced under the label of famous companies, is the presence of high-quality metal fittings. Retaining rings, half rings and carabiners are the most important part of the leash. The life of the dog itself and the well-being of those around them sometimes depend on their strength.

  • Carbine. Must correspond to the breed and size of the animal. You should not use bag or haberdashery carabiners for sewing leashes, which can often be found in sewing stores. This option may be suitable only for dwarf and decorative breeds of dogs. The jerk of a medium or large animal is equal to several hundred kilograms. So you should choose a carbine in pet stores or points selling goods for hunting and fishing.
  • Metal half rings. Accessories used in leashes and in the manufacture of collars. The main rule is that the rings must be made of an all-metal alloy, and must also be welded. Unfortunately, high-quality accessories for leashes are very difficult to find. Suitable models can be found in hardware workshops, professional handicraft stores or ordered online.
  • Rivets. As a rule, stitching with strong threads is sufficient for a leash. But for greater strength, you can also put rivets on the product. This service is provided in hardware workshops.

Material selection

Since you need to make a leash strong and reliable, you need to take care and the right choice materials. Many modern models are made of nylon sling. This is not the most the best choice, since such material is often excessively slippery and hard, and its edges are sharp. When tugging, a nylon leash will definitely burn your hand.

Tarpaulin is distinguished by naturalness and increased strength. You can sew a fairly heavy carabiner onto it, and the dense fabric material will not sag under its weight. There are two downsides to tarpaulin - just like nylon, it slips and burns your hands, sometimes to the point of blood, and besides this, it appearance far from beauty and grace.

Soft leather, especially calfskin, the so-called “fat” leather, is an excellent material for leashes. The most expensive and comfortable models are made from it. The leather does not slip and does not cut your hands if it is soft. This material is beautiful, light and comfortable. The only drawback is its ability to tan after interacting with water. But this can also be avoided by purchasing a soft expensive leather. Unfortunately, these tips are of little use for self-made, since making a leash from leather materials at home is quite problematic.

The right option for DIY sewing would be a synthetic sling without a hard edge, trimmed with a softer, possibly colored or reflective cotton braid.

Sew a classic leash

For a 1.5-meter model you will need:

  • tape made of sling, tarpaulin or nylon 2-2.5 cm wide - 1.8 m;
  • durable carabiner with latch - 1 pc.;
  • jacquard braid for decoration - 3 m;
  • sewing machine, thread and scissors.

How to make a leash, step by step description:

  1. We insert one end of the tape into the eye of the carabiner, bend it 3 cm and wrap it inside.
  2. We sew the resulting three-layer hem onto sewing machine around the entire perimeter and crosswise. Be sure to make securing seams.
  3. At the other end of the tape we sew a handle. To do this, wrap the tape around your hand and add 3-4 cm for convenience.
  4. We sew the tape with a hem, forming a loop-handle.
  5. Fold the jacquard braid in half and cut it.
  6. We will attach both parts of the braid to the future leash on both sides, closing the seam near the carabiner and handle. We baste the braid or secure it with pins in the desired position.
  7. Sew the braid to the leash tape.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a strong and flexible dog leash with your own hands from paracord. Take your dog for walks, hikes or just for a walk near the house - this leash will withstand heavy loads and the worst weather!

Step 1: Buy paracord

Obviously, the first step in any project using paracord is to acquire that very paracord. Depending on how long you want your leash to be will determine how much paracord you need to buy.

For a regular cobra weave you need about 60 cm of paracord for every 5 cm of finished weave, minus the core, which means that for 60 cm of finished weave you will need approximately 8.5 meters of paracord: 7.5 meters for the weave itself and about a meter for the core (given that the core usually consists of two cords).

You can't be too careful when using paracord, so when weaving large projects, always (I repeat, always!) add another 50cm on top to the calculated length. Now, for king cobra weaving, you will need about 90 cm of cord for every 5 cm of weaving, since the loops will be more voluminous.

My paracord leash took about 49 meters of cord, and its length is approximately 1.8 meters, plus about 45 cm for the handle, I braided it with a “king cobra”. I cut about 53-54 meters of paracord to get it to exactly the right length and the leash turned out exactly the way I wanted. If your leash is too short, you will have to start all over again, and this is not an option, because you will have to weave a lot.

Step 2: Cobra and King Cobra Braiding

Cobra weaving is quite easy, and king cobra is even simpler. First you need to create a core, on which the length of the weaving will depend. The first thing to determine is the center of the cord, which needs to be tied in a knot around whatever you are braiding your cord to, in my case, the collar's snap hook.

Then take one end, place it over the core, leaving a small loop, then take the other end, loop it over the first but under the core, and then pass it up through the loop. To get the loops, continue these steps, but change the laces each time. If you need more detailed explanation, then there are a lot of lessons on the Internet. For the king cobra, you just need to weave the same thing over the regular cobra, using it as the core that will give the weave larger size and strength, which is essential for large large breed dogs.

Step 3: Tool

You don't need a lot of equipment - just a standard kit for weaving paracord:

  • paracord
  • scissors
  • lighter
  • carbine
  • soft ruler
  • time

Step 4: Loop

To start weaving a paracord leash, I made a regular loop, but since the carabiner was very wide (like the king cobra weave itself), I wrapped several loops around it. Usually you just wrap the lace and tighten the loop, but if your carabiner is wide, then give it a few turns. This will make the loop stronger and will not flop around the carabiner. To prevent my loop from becoming loose during the process, I secured it with a piece of old, unwanted paracord.

*The blue paracord Prusik knot in the photo is just one option for securing your cord to a carabiner.

Step 5: Leash Handle and Paracord Tricks

The pen is the most the hard part leash, but if you can master it, then the rest of it will be very easy to do. After I secured the lace to the carabiner and measured out the desired length, I made a loop out of paracord for the handle. The beginning is quite tricky, but theoretically simple. After creating the loop, I took two braiding cords and started braiding, not from the end, but from the place where the loop connects to the leash. Thus, the handle was woven into the main weave - I worked the cobra weave over it first.

Note: When you are working with a large amount of paracord, roll it up and secure it with a pair of hair ties (rubber bands will work, but the cloth covering of hair ties allows the cord to slide out more smoothly than regular rubber bands). By grabbing the paracord in this way, you will pass its entire length through the weave at once and you will not have to stretch tens of meters of cord over and over again - this will save you hours of time.

Step 6: Completing the first part of the handle

Once you have braided the entire handle, you will return to the core of the leash, just go to it and continue braiding - this step is very important because it gives the leash integrity and strength, making the handle one with the rest of the leash.

Step 7: Weave, weave and weave some more

Once you are done with the handle, you need to weave along the entire length of the core. I believe that watching a movie will brighten up your leisure time during this procedure. When you reach the end, try to bring the weaving as close to the carabiner as possible, since we will need to go back in the weaving process, making a king cobra. This part was easy and half the battle is this moment already done.

Step 8: King Cobra

King cobra weaving is very simple, especially after you have learned how to make a regular cobra. All you need to do once you reach the carabiner is turn the leader over and use the first braid as the core. It is very important to start as close to the carabiner as possible when securing the connection so that the leash does not become loose or twist. Then just weave in reverse side, entering the finish line.

Step 9: Completion

After you reach the place where the leash connects to the handle, select one of its sides and walk along it in a circle, braiding it into a king cobra. When the circle is braided, you will need to trim off the excess cord and melt it. Pull the knots tightly, trim off any excess cord, and make sure it doesn't unravel. All is ready!

A leash is necessary for walking and training dogs different breeds. The difference in accessories is determined by the size and age of the dog, and depends on the task that they must perform. To decide how to make a leash for a dog, you need to decide on its type.

Reasons why dog owners use a leash:

For each of the listed tasks, manufacturers offer a variety of accessories with different designs, made of tarpaulin, genuine leather or other material. For one pet, dog owners usually have several types of leashes for different occasions.

Table 1. Types of leashes and their description.

Type of leashPurpose and description
Walking
Designed for daily walks with your pet and should be durable. The design of the accessory can be different - from classic models to glamorous ones, decorated with beads and rhinestones. For small breeds For dogs, the leash is made of leather; for large dogs, it is made of canvas, although other options are possible.
Sparka (bundle)
Designed for walking two dogs at a time. Spark is used for short walking or at exhibitions. Keeping pets in the fold for a long time irritates them and makes it difficult to move.
Chain
The accessory in the form of a chain looks aesthetically pleasing. This accessory is suitable for small breeds of dogs. A strong, large dog can break the links when jerking.
Lead leash
The 50 cm long accessory is made in the form of a loop with a carabiner. Used for tall dogs in urban conditions, so that the dog does not move away from the owner’s leg.
Roulette leash
A leash that does not sag when the dog moves. It has a special mechanism: it is easy to twist and unwind. The accessory is used for walking dogs of small and medium breeds. A large dog can break the mechanism. The disadvantage of such a leash is that the pet gets used to pulling and tugging on it while walking.
Leash
The length of such a leash can be changed if necessary, and can also be used to tether a pet. The accessory is equipped with metal half rings and two carabiners.
Show ring
A thin leash in the form of a noose without a carabiner is designed to control the dog while participating in the exhibition.

Criteria for choosing a leash and ring for dogs

When choosing a leash for your pet, pay attention to its size and material of manufacture.

Table 2. Size chart of leashes used by manufacturers.

  1. For tying on the site and taking part in exhibitions up to three meters long.
  2. For walks up to ten meters long.

Popular materials for making leashes:

  • leather;
  • synthetics;
  • tarpaulin;
  • metal.

Leather leashes are made single-layer and multi-layer. Such accessories are comfortable, but they become deformed and lose their elasticity when exposed to moisture.

Synthetic and canvas accessories are the most durable. Metal chains are not used for long-haired breeds, as the links get tangled in the wool.

Leash training for your pet

The dog is taught to walk on a leash after it has become accustomed to the collar. When the puppy no longer pays attention to the strap around his neck, you can fasten the leash.

The collar is first put on the pet at the age of 1.5 months. At this time, kids usually joyfully perceive all innovations. But the character of puppies is different and some of them may resist and be against wearing equipment. In such a situation, the owner will have to be patient and start raising and training the dog.

Training is carried out in a calm and familiar environment for the puppy. The number of people around at this moment should be limited, the dog should be well-fed. Before you put a new accessory on your dog, you need to let him sniff it. But you should not allow your dog to play with the leash or chew on it.

If the puppy is too active, he will be taught to use a leash after a walk, when he is slightly tired.

The training period can take from 7 to 30 days, depending on the dog’s temperament, the regularity of training and the persistence of the owner.

When training a puppy to a leash, adhere to general rules education and training of dogs:

Training is carried out with a leash no longer than 2 meters in order to be able to constantly control the dog and at the same time give it freedom. A roulette leash is not suitable for training.

In the first days, just fasten the leash to the collar, accustoming the puppy to this manipulation. The dog is then allowed to move in a limited area, but is not held on a leash. When the puppy gets used to this, his behavior begins to be controlled by the tension of the leash.

If the puppy refuses to go with the leash, you should not pull him, you should simply distract him with a toy and try again. Effective method is an incentive to move with the help of a bowl of food.

If the dog, on the contrary, runs forward and pulls on the leash, it should be stopped. The movement continues after the ward approaches the owner.

Features of leash training for an adult dog

The stages of training an adult animal differ from those described earlier. If the dog for a long time spent in an enclosure or a nursery cage, his training begins with a leash, about 8 meters long. Work with the dog in an open area, the leash should hang freely. The leash is shortened gradually as you get used to it. Usually an adult animal does not want to go to short leash. Treats are used for training. When luring the dog with a tasty morsel, they make sure that he does not run ahead and block the owner’s path.

One lesson with adult dog should not exceed half an hour in duration.

DIY dog leash

You can buy a leash for your pet in a store or make it yourself.

The first step to making an accessory is selecting accessories. Branded factory-produced models are usually equipped with high-quality fittings. Metal carabiners, half rings or rings must be of high quality.

The carbine is selected according to the size and temperament of the dog. They use special fittings and do not use parts for the production of bags, as they will not withstand the jerk of an animal. Carbines are sold in pet stores and retail outlets selling hunting and fishing gear.

Rings and half-rings must be welded.

Sometimes rivets are placed on the product, but you can get by with stitching with strong threads.

The next stage is the choice of material for the leash. They also don’t skimp on quality. The product should be strong and elastic. The accessory is made from ribbons and cords of various materials. Cords can be purchased at a sewing accessories store, equipment for mountaineers, or braided yourself. A homemade cord can be made of synthetic or leather.

One of the most popular materials for making your own ammunition is nylon sling. But it is not the best option. This tape glides in your hands. The dog's jerking on it causes pain to the owner, especially if the sling has a sharp edge.

A canvas leash is very durable, but can also damage the owner's hand. This material is used in the manufacture of leashes for trained and balanced dogs. large dogs. The accessory is not very aesthetically pleasing, but it can be decorated.

The leather leash is soft and comfortable. Calfskin leather makes the most comfortable products. To avoid negative impact moisture, the leash is treated with a special compound.

IMPORTANT! It is difficult to sew a leather leash at home without special skills. The product will not be of high quality. Therefore, for self-production, most often they choose a synthetic cord and sheathe it with a softer material.

Step-by-step instructions for making a leash with your own hands

Most dog owners have a question: how to make a leash for their pet at home? The cost of such a leash is minimal, so this option is suitable for dog owners with a small budget.

To make your own leash, you will need:

  1. Durable linen or canvas tape
  2. Carabiner and connecting ring
  3. Sewing machine
  4. Scissors
  5. Lighter

It is advisable to buy carabiners used in the production of bags.

On average, the length of the leash should be 2.5 m. One side of the product needs to be adapted for a carabiner, and the other will serve as a handle for the owner.

Before making the leash, you need to treat the ends of the ribbon with a lighter so that it does not unravel.

One end of the nylon strip is threaded into a carabiner, folded in about 30 mm and folded inward. The resulting three layers of tape are stitched in several directions.

After installing the carabiner in the loop, you need to stitch it several times on a sewing machine for strength.

On the opposite side of the tape a handle is made in the form of a loop. The size is determined as follows: wrap the material around the arm and add an extra 4-5 cm. Make a three-layer hem and stitch it.

Your product is ready.

But do not forget the fact that the carbine and ring must be of high quality, because not only the strength of the product, but also the safety of others and your dog will depend on this.

In the same way, you can independently make not only a leash for walking your pet, but also a leash-driver.

Making a ringovka with your own hands

To make an exhibition leash, use a cord of a suitable color.

IMPORTANT! The show coat should not contrast with the pet’s coat, but should blend in with it.

In accordance with fashion, the accessory is decorated with fur, beads, rhinestones or details made of precious metals.
The diameter of the cord for small breeds is 3 mm, for round ones – 8 -10 mm.

Also for the ring you will need rings and accessories for decoration. The diameter of the ring is determined by the thickness of the cord.

First, a noose is made according to the size of the dog. The pet's head should fit into the noose with difficulty. Both ends of the cord are melted. A ring is attached to one of them, at a certain distance from which a restrictive knot is made or another stop made of beautiful fittings is used. You can also use a cord clip on your pants or jacket.

All parts are sewn with durable synthetic thread. Its edges are also melted and pressed against the cord for gluing.

If you cannot find a cord of the desired color, you can purchase a light one and dye it.

According to statistics, forty-one percent of residents in our country have a dog. Among domestic animals, only cats exceed this percentage. And this is normal, because a dog requires more effort, time and finances from its owners, unlike other pets. An ordinary dog definitely needs a set consisting of a collar and a leash. It’s very sad that even for this a small part The price of the necessary equipment increases every year. But you can save a little and still have several sets of this equipment for any occasion. Now we will look at how to create a dog leash with your own hands.

Let's start with the classics

Now we will look at how to sew a classic leash.

For the one and a half meter version you will need:

  • nylon or canvas tape two or two and a half centimeters wide and 180 centimeters long;
  • durable carabiner with latch;
  • for design, jacquard ribbon, approximately three meters;
  • sewing machine;
  • a thread;
  • scissors.

We take the carabiner and insert the end of the tape three centimeters into the eyelet, wrap it inside. It turns out to be a hem of three layers; it must be sewn around the perimeter using a sewing machine, and then crosswise. In any case, we perform securing seams.

From the second end of the ribbon we sew a handle. To do this, wrap the tape around your hand and add three or four centimeters for comfort. Now we sew the ribbon with a hem, and you will get a loop.

Take the jacquard ribbon, fold it in the middle and cut it. We apply both parts of the ribbon to the base of the leash, while closing the seam next to the carabiner and loop. We fasten the ribbon with pins, then sew it on a machine. There you have it, a nice classic leash.

A leash made from paracord will excellent option leash is a very strong and durable braided leash that is well suited for any breed of dog, regardless of their size.

To make a leash from the classic Cobra knot, you need about thirty centimeters of lace to get a piece of leash of two and a half centimeters, not counting the middle. Thirty centimeters of leash will require fourteen times more cord. Based on this, approximately four hundred and twenty centimeters of lace are required, of which three hundred and sixty centimeters for weaving and sixty centimeters for the middle.

Working with this material requires experience, so don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t turn out perfectly right away. If you are making such a leash for the first time, it is better to buy one larger than the calculated size.

If you choose “king cobra”, then the lace consumption will be 45 centimeters per 2.5 centimeters of leash. Sometimes the exact amount of material is not possible, so it is better to take a lace with a reserve. In this master class, a leash of 180 centimeters was created, and approximately 480 centimeters of cord were used, including 45 centimeters for the handle. A total of 525 centimeters of cord were used.

Now let's look at the node in detail. First you need to find the center, it will affect the length of the leash, the knot and the distance to the carabiner. Now take one of the ends of the lace and place it above the center, leaving a loop. Now we take the second end and pass it over the 1st, but this time under the center and pull the lace up through the loop. We continue to do the same, while directing the cord in different directions, and when using the “king cobra” method, we do the usual one twice, and use it as the center - this will give more strength and volume.

To create a leash you will need:

  • scissors;
  • tape measure or measuring tape;
  • paracord;
  • lighter;
  • clamp;
  • rubber;
  • carbine;
  • a small piece of old lace;
  • time, effort and job description.

We make the correct knot on the carabiner.

The clip is wide, so you need to wrap the loop several times, and only then pull the lace through it. We make the main knot by winding and pulling once. But if necessary, we can expand it further. In this case, you will get a strong non-slip connection. To keep the carabiner in place, take an old cord and tie it using a Prusik knot:

And now it’s time for the most interesting part of weaving - creating a handle. If you understand the method of its manufacture, everything else will immediately become very simple. After we have attached the cord to the carabiner and measured the required length, we need to make a loop from the paracord cord - this will be the handle. Then we do a “Jump to the Middle”, for this we take 2 intertwining cords and begin to weave them through bottom part where the loop connects to the leash. This is where the handle will be attached.

Behind the “Jump” we tie the handle using the “Cobra”. And we finish using the “King Cobra”. To make it more comfortable, we make a skein of lace and secure it with elastic bands. Thus, it will be more convenient to pull it into the knots without stretching the entire length of the leash, and will also save a lot of effort and time.

When the braiding of the handle is completed, you will need to go around the original center. Once again we “Jump” along the long piece and make a continuous loop.

Now you need to braid the entire lace from top to bottom. A neat appearance is important here. It will be good if you weave as close to the clamp as possible, this way the leash will become wider. The point is to perform the reverse “king cobra”.

When we braid as wide as possible at the clamp, you need to turn everything and make “Cobra” as the middle. In this case, it is necessary to stay close to the clamp so that the leash does not twist or turn in the future. We remember that around the bend you need to weave in the opposite direction.

Having reached the starting point of the handle, we braid it in a circle.

When we reach the beginning of the long part, we cut and melt the lace, now we pull it tighter and cut off what is unnecessary, after making sure that the edge of the lace is firmly fixed. And now an excellent and interesting leash is ready and can delight both the owner and the pet.

This version of the leash will be more strict; it is created from a belt tape, approximately two and a half meters long. To do this, we melt the edges with a lighter, then thread the end into a metal ring, creating a handle and attaching it with a strong seam. Now you just need to put the carabiner on the ring, and the leash is ready.

Video on the topic of the article

There are other methods and options for creating a good and unusual leash for your beloved pet, so below are a few more videos.

IN Lately DIY dog harnesses are gaining immense popularity, because what owner doesn’t want the best for their pet. A collar is not suitable for every dog; the pet tries to break out of it to walk free, and the leash pulls on the cartilage tissue on the neck, and the pet can suffocate. Therefore, more and more dog lovers prefer a harness.

Bigger dog

The process of making a harness for a shepherd dog can be followed using the example of step-by-step instructions.

To do this you will need a nylon sling, width 15-30 mm, felt, solid steel rings, strong thread, a lock buckle and two three-slit buckles.

To create any harness, you need to take measurements from the dog.

Then we begin to cut the harness. The cut can be seen in the next photo.

Next you need to open the lining. There are three such parts, the size of which is exactly the same as the first, second and third parts. The lining fabric pieces are cut twice as wide, then folded in half and tapered in the middle.

In this subsection we will collect all the blanks, starting with (B). We sew a lining and a nylon sling along the edge, doing it only in the middle of the sling. We form a sling loop at the ends so that other parts can be threaded through. On top you need to sew everything in the shape of a square and its diagonals, as shown in the photo.

Blanks (A-D) and (B-G) must be assembled in exactly the same way. On the side where the ring will be, you need to leave a little space just for the hem, and on the opposite side, where the buckle is located, we leave room for the buckle and the hem.

The next point can be seen in the photo.

To assemble the harness, you need to make two more parts. The ring needs to be sewn on one side, and the buckle-lock on the opposite side.

Next, adjust all the parts according to required sizes. We do the first fitting: we put the paws into the harness and fasten the lock on the harness. Use the loose rings to tighten the harness to the required size so that it does not squeeze the dog.

This harness is also suitable for huskies.

Idea for small dogs

You can also sew a harness for small dogs, for example, a pug. This type of harness is perfect for a Yorkie. An example of sewing can be seen in the next master class.

To work you will need a piece of fabric, faux suede and Velcro.

Harness pattern with allowances already included. The front side is shown in a darker color.

Fold the harness in half and cut a blank from regular fabric and suede. There should be Velcro in the places where the rectangles are located.

Now you need to decorate the edges. We cut out a strip, the width corresponds to the diameter of the ring for the leash.

Fold towards the middle.

We cut out a strip of adhesive material of exactly the same size.

We stretch the strip through two rings.

We place the strip in the middle and iron it with an iron.

Use finishing tape to trim the edges. We sew a strip and select the area where the rings are located.

Sew the Velcro together by hand.
