In 1959, the magazine of the Canadian branch of the Orthodox Brotherhood, St. Job Pochaevsky "Orthodox Review" published the vision of one elder, which he told to the Canadian Bishop Vitaly (Ustinov), who later became the Metropolitan of the ROCOR. This old man saw the Lord in a subtle dream, who said to him:
“Behold, I will exalt Orthodoxy in the Russian land and from there it will shine throughout the whole world... The Commune will disappear and scatter like dust from the wind. It was launched in order to make Russia one people with one heart and one soul. Having purified him with fire, I will make him My people... Behold, I will stretch out My right hand and Orthodoxy from Russia will shine to the whole world. The time will come when children there will carry stones on their shoulders to build temples. My hand is strong and there is no such power either in heaven or on earth that could resist it.”

In 1992, the book “The Last Fates of Russia and the World. A brief overview of prophecies and predictions." In particular, it contains the following prediction made in a conversation by one of modern elders in September 1990: “We got closer last days The West, its wealth, its depravity. Suddenly disaster and destruction will befall him. His unrighteous, evil wealth oppresses the whole world, and his depravity is like the depravity of a new and worse Sodom. Its science and technology are the madness of a new, second Babylon. His pride is apostate, satanic pride. All his deeds are for the benefit of the Antichrist. “The synagogue of Satan” took possession of him (Ap. 2:9).
The fiery wrath of God is upon the West, upon Babylon! And you, lift up your heads and rejoice, sufferers of God and all the good, humble, who endured evil in trust in God! Rejoice, long-suffering Orthodox people, stronghold of the East of God, who suffered according to the will of God for the whole world. To you, for the sake of those chosen in you, God will give strength to fulfill the great and final promise of His Only Begotten Son about the last preaching of His Gospel in the world before the end of the world, as a testimony to all nations!
The arrogance and gloating of the West about the current disasters of Russia will turn into even greater wrath of God on the West. After “perestroika” in Russia, “perestroika” will begin in the West, and unprecedented discord will open there: civil strife, famine, unrest, the fall of authorities, collapse, anarchy, pestilence, famine, cannibalism - unprecedented horrors of evil and depravity accumulated in the souls. The Lord will give them to reap what they sowed for many centuries and with which they oppressed and corrupted the whole world. And all their wickedness will rise up against them.
Russia withstood its temptation, for it had within itself the faith of martyrdom, the mercy of God and His election. But the West does not have this and therefore cannot stand it...
Russia is waiting for God!
The Russian people need only a leader, a shepherd - a Tsar chosen by God. And he will go with him to any feat! Only the Anointed One of God will give the highest and strongest unity to the Russian people!”

Archbishop Seraphim, Chicago and Detroit (1959): “The Lord recently, during my first pilgrimage to Palestine, deigned me, a sinner, to become acquainted with some new, hitherto unknown prophecies that cast new light on the fate of Russia. These prophecies were accidentally discovered by a learned Russian monk in ancient Greek manuscripts kept in an ancient Greek monastery.
Unknown Holy Fathers of the 8th and 9th centuries, that is, contemporaries of St. John of Damascus, in approximately the following words, these prophecies were captured: “After God’s chosen Jewish people, having betrayed their Messiah and Redeemer to torment and shameful death, lost their chosenness, the latter passed to the Hellenes, who became God’s second chosen people.
The great Eastern Fathers of the Church honed Christian dogmas and created a coherent system of Christian doctrine. This is the great merit of the Greek people. However, to build a harmonious social and state life on this solid Christian foundation, the Byzantine statehood lacks the creative strength and capabilities. The scepter of the Orthodox Kingdom falls from the weakening hands of the Byzantine emperors, who failed to realize the symphony of Church and state.
Therefore, to replace the decrepit spiritually chosen Greek people, the Lord Provider will send his third God-chosen people. This people will appear in the North in a hundred or two years (these prophecies were written in Palestine 150–200 years before the Baptism of Rus' - Archbishop Seraphim), will accept Christianity with all their hearts, will try to live according to the commandments of Christ and seek, according to the instructions of Christ the Savior, first of all The Kingdom of God and His Truth. For this zeal, the Lord God will love this people and give them everything else - large expanses of land, wealth, state power and glory.
Due to human weakness, this great people will more than once fall into great sins and for this they will be punished with considerable trials. In a thousand years, this chosen people of God will waver in faith and, in standing for the Truth of Christ, will become proud of their earthly power and glory, will cease to care about seeking the future City and will want paradise not in heaven, but on sinful earth.
However, not all of those people will follow this disastrous broad path, although a significant majority of them will, especially their leading layer. And for this great fall, a terrible fiery trial will be sent from above to this people who have despised God’s ways. Rivers of blood will spill across his land, brother will kill brother, famine will visit this land more than once and gather its terrible harvest, almost all temples and other shrines will be destroyed or desecrated, many people will die.
Part of this people, not wanting to put up with lawlessness and untruth, will leave their native borders and scatter, like the Jewish people, throughout the world (isn’t this said about us, Russian foreigners? - Archbishop Seraphim).
Yet the Lord is not completely angry with His third chosen people. The blood of thousands of martyrs will cry to heaven for mercy. The people themselves will begin to sober up and return to God. The period of cleansing testing determined by the Just Judge has finally passed, and holy Orthodoxy will once again shine with the bright light of revival in those northern expanses.
This wondrous light of Christ will illuminate from there and enlighten all the peoples of the world, which will be helped by the providentially sent in advance into dispersion of a part of this people, which will create centers of Orthodoxy - temples of God - throughout the world.
Christianity will then reveal itself in all its heavenly beauty and completeness. Most of the peoples of the world will become Christians. For some time, a prosperous and peaceful Christian life will reign throughout the sublunary...
And then? Then, when the fulfillment of times comes, a complete decline in faith and everything else predicted in Holy Scripture will begin throughout the world, the Antichrist will appear and, finally, the end of the world will come.”
ALL ENEMIES OF ORTHODOXY WILL BE DESTROYED
In 2001, a group of Samara priests and laity, led by their archpastor, Archbishop Sergius, visited the Holy Mountain. Impressions from this pilgrimage were published in the first issue of the Orthodox almanac “Spiritual Interlocutor” for 2002. Often during meetings with Svyatogorsk inhabitants the conversation turned to the fate of Russia
In particular, in the Greek monastery of Vatopedi, the Samara bishop was especially received by the 85-year-old elder monk Joseph (Joseph the Younger), a disciple of the famous Joseph the Hesychast who died in Bose. This ascetic now lives in a cell not far from the monastery and takes care of the monastery. O. Kirion, who accompanied the bishop as a translator, after this meeting said this:
“The old man has grace written on his face. He told us about the fate of the world and the terrible events to come. The Lord tolerated our iniquities for a long time, as before the great flood, but now the limit of God’s patience has come - the time has come for cleansing. The cup of God's wrath is overflowing. The Lord will allow suffering to destroy the wicked and those who fight against God - all those who caused modern unrest, poured out dirt and infected the people. The Lord will allow that they, with blinded minds, will destroy each other. There will be many victims and blood. But believers do not need to be afraid, although there will be sorrowful days for them, there will be as many sorrows as the Lord allows for cleansing. There is no need to be horrified by this. Then there will be a surge of piety in Russia and throughout the world. The Lord will cover his own. People will return to God.
We are already on the threshold of these events. Now everything is beginning, then the God-fighters will have the next stage, but they will not be able to carry out their plans, the Lord will not allow it. The elder said that after an outburst of piety the end of earthly history will be near.”
The elder did not deprive other Russian pilgrims of his conversation.
“We pray,” he told them, “that the Russian people will return to their normal state that was before the destruction, because we have common roots and are worried about the situation of the Russian people...
Such a deterioration now - general state worldwide. And this state is precisely the limit after which the wrath of God begins. We have reached this limit. The Lord endured only out of His mercy, and now He will no longer endure, but in His righteousness He will begin to punish, because the time has come.
There will be wars and we will experience great difficulties. Now the Jews have seized power all over the world, and their goal is to eradicate Christianity. The wrath of God will be such that all the secret enemies of Orthodoxy will be destroyed. The wrath of God is sent specifically for this purpose to destroy them.
Trials should not terrify us; we should always have hope in God. After all, thousands, millions of martyrs suffered in the same way, and the new martyrs suffered in the same way, and therefore we must be prepared for this and not be horrified. There must be patience, prayer and trust in God’s Providence. Let us pray for the revival of Christianity after all that awaits us, so that the Lord will truly give us the strength to be reborn. But we must survive this harm...
The tests began a long time ago, and we must wait for the big explosion. But after this there will be a revival...
Now is the beginning of events, difficult military events. The engine of this evil is the Jews. The devil is forcing them to begin to destroy the seed of Orthodoxy in Greece and Russia. This is for them the main obstacle to world domination. And they will force the Turks to finally come here to Greece and begin their actions. And although Greece has a government, it actually doesn’t exist as such, because it has no power. And the Turks will come here. This will be the moment when Russia will also move its forces to push back the Turks.
Events will develop like this: when Russia comes to the aid of Greece, the Americans and NATO will try to prevent this, so that there is no reunification, a merger of the two Orthodox peoples. More forces will rise - the Japanese and other peoples. There will be a great massacre on the territory of the former Byzantine Empire. There will be about 600 million people killed alone. The Vatican will also actively participate in all this in order to prevent the reunification and increasing role of Orthodoxy. But this will result in the complete destruction of Vatican influence, right down to its very foundations. This is how God's Providence will turn...
There will be God's permission for those who sow temptations to be destroyed: pornography, drug addiction, etc. And the Lord will so blind their minds that they will destroy each other with gluttony. The Lord will allow this on purpose to carry out a great cleansing. As for the one who rules the country, he will not be around for long, and what is happening now will not be for long, and then immediately there will be war. But after this great purge there will be a revival of Orthodoxy not only in Russia, but throughout the world, a great surge of Orthodoxy.
The Lord will give His favor and grace just as it was in the beginning, in the first centuries, when people with with an open heart went to the Lord. This will last three or four decades, and then the dictatorship of the Antichrist will quickly come. These are the terrible events we must endure, but let them not terrify us, because the Lord will cover His own. Yes, indeed, we experience difficulties, hunger and even persecution and much more, but the Lord will not abandon His own. And those who are placed in power must force their subjects to be more with the Lord, to remain more in prayer, and the Lord will cover His own. But after the great cleansing there will be a great revival..."
The pilgrims also heard about another amazing revelation. George, a novice of the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery, told them about it, with the blessing of his elders:
“The vision was revealed this year to one inhabitant of Holy Mount Athos on the day of the murder of the royal family - the seventeenth of July. Let his name remain a secret, but this is a miracle that can amaze the whole world. He consulted with the elders of Athos, thinking that perhaps this was spiritual delusion, but they said that this was a revelation.
He saw a huge, huge ship thrown onto the rocks in the semi-dark darkness. He sees that the ship is called “Russia”. The ship is tilting and is about to fall off a cliff into the sea. On the ship there are thousands and thousands of people who are in panic. They already think that the end of their lives must come, there is nowhere to wait for help. And suddenly the figure of a horseman appears on the horizon, he is racing on a horse straight across the sea. The closer the horseman is, the more clearly it is clear that this is our Sovereign.
He, as always, is dressed simply - in a soldier's cap, in a soldier's uniform, but his insignia is visible. His face was bright and kind, and his eyes said that he loved the whole world and suffered for this world, for Orthodox Rus'. A bright beam from the sky illuminates the Emperor, and at that moment the ship smoothly descends onto the water and sets its course. On the ship one can see the great jubilation of the rescued people, which is impossible to describe.”
Prophecy 1:
One doctor asked the Elder what awaits us in the future?
“Only God knows the future, my child.”
- Geronta, will there be big wars?
- What are you asking, child? And you can’t imagine what will happen!
Prophecy 2:
Today, reading prophecies is like reading a newspaper: everything is written so clearly. My thoughts tell me that many events will happen: the Russians will occupy Turkey, Turkey will disappear from the map, because 1/3 of the Turks will become Christians, 1/3 will die and 1/3 will go to Mesopotamia.
The Middle East will become the scene of wars in which the Russians will take part. A lot of blood will be shed, and even the Chinese will cross the Euphrates River, having an army of 200,000,000, and reach Jerusalem.
A characteristic sign that these events are approaching will be the destruction of the Omar Mosque, because... its destruction will mean the beginning of work on the reconstruction of Solomon's temple, which was built on that very spot.
It will happen in Constantinople Great War between Russians and Europeans, and a lot of blood will be shed. Greece will not play a leading role in this war, but Constantinople will be given to it, not because the Russians will revere us, but because there is no better solution, and they will agree together with Greece, and difficult circumstances will put pressure on them. The Greek army will not have time to get there before the city will be given to it. The Jews, since they will have the strength and help of the European leadership, will become insolent and show themselves with shamelessness and pride and will try to rule Europe. Then 2/3 of Jews will become Christians.
Unfortunately, today people who have no relation to the Church and with absolutely worldly wisdom are being pushed into theology, who say different things and commit impermissible actions, with the goal of deliberately removing Christians from the faith with their position. The Russians did the same when they wanted to introduce communism in Russia. What were they doing there? After some incorrect priests and theologians joined the party - and were already “at one with them” - they were forced to accuse the Church and often speak against it. So they poisoned the people because they could not recognize the role of these theologians. Then they took one of their priests, who was very fat due to illness, searched for months for some bony guy, put them on one poster and wrote at the bottom: “This is how the Church lives and how the people are in poverty.” They also took a photograph of the patriarch's chambers, covered with carpets, furniture, etc., and placed next to the barracks of one of the beggars (like our gypsies) and said: look at the luxury of the priests and how the Russian citizen vegetates! So they managed to little by little poison the people and “spoil their thoughts.” And after the people devoured each other, they also appeared and, as we know, threw Russia back 500 years and left it dying, killing millions of Russian Christians.
They will plot many intrigues, but through the persecution that follows, Christianity will be completely united. However, not in the way that those who are machinating a worldwide union of churches want, wanting to have one religious leadership at its head. They will unite, because in the current situation there will be a separation of the sheep from the goats. Each sheep will strive to be close to another sheep and then “one flock and one Shepherd” will be realized. Are you getting into it? We see that this is already partly being realized: Christians, you saw, have already begun to feel that they are in an unhealthy climate, and will try to avoid painful situations and flock in thousands to monasteries and churches. You will soon see that there are two parts of people in the city: those who will live a prodigal life far from Christ, and the rest who will flock to vigils and places of worship. The average state, as it is now, can no longer exist.
Prophecy 3:
One day I came down and saw the Elder somewhat embarrassed and upset. He treated me and began to speak:
“Some people came here and began to tell me that there would be a war, and that the Turks would enter Greece, and that they would drive us six miles to Corinth (explaining the prophecy of Cosmas of Aetolia, erroneously, corrupted by their thoughts). Then I took them on and said that the worst enemy for the Hellenes is that when all over the world certain Hellenes like you spread that if war happens, the Turks will drive us to Corinth, because when the war starts, everyone will have the spirit is broken and they themselves will retreat to Corinth. Moreover, even if this were the truth, one cannot talk about it. Especially when it is not true. And I repeat to you again: don’t talk about this anywhere, because you will do much more evil than many Turkish divisions would do.
I told them this, and they forced me to explain, although I never wanted to talk about prophecies, that the six-mile region that Saint Cosmas speaks of is six miles of sea shelf. This is the topic for which we are last years we are squabbling with Turkey, and this will be the matter over which we “fight.” However, they will not enter Hellas: they will advance only these six miles, and then a great disaster will come upon them from the north, as the scriptures say, and “nothing straight will remain.” A third of the Turks will be killed, a third will convert to Christianity, and the rest will go far to Asia. We will not suffer in any way from the Turks. Some unimportant things will be destroyed and the wrath of God will come upon them.
I heard this from them and was upset. I could not believe that the Greeks themselves, by spreading such things during peace, would provide the Turks with the greatest help.
They also began to tell me that what Saint Cosmas said: “then it will come when two summers and two Paschals come together,” now that the Resurrection (Easter) coincided with the Annunciation - and winter passed like summer - means that the Turks will attack Hellas (Greece).
We have all become prophets, my father, and we explain things with our minds as we want. And here I was forced to tell them that Saint Cosmas, when he said: “then he will come,” did not mean the Turks. I understood that then freedom would come for the inhabitants of Northern Epirus. And indeed, this year the borders were opened after so many years, and they can, in some way, freely communicate with their fatherland.
My father, I have seen that these people cause great harm by explaining things with their poor minds. And what’s more, they convey their corrupted thoughts to others.
Prophecy 4:
So “nobly” they will divide Turkey into parts
The brother asked the Elder about the events in Serbia, and he, among other things, said:
— Europeans are now making, for the sake of the Turks, independent areas where Muslims live (Bosnia and Herzegovina). I see, however, that Turkey will be divided in a noble way: the Kurds and Armenians will rebel, and the Europeans will demand that these peoples be made independent. They will then say to Turkey: we did you a favor there, now the Kurds and Armenians should gain independence in a similar way. This is how Turkey will be “nobly” divided into parts.
Saint Arsenios in Faras told believers that they would lose their fatherland, but would soon receive it again.
Prophecy 5:
In the summer of 1987, I asked the Elder about the future world war, the one called “Armageddon” and described in the Scriptures.
With fatherly interest, he told me various information. And he even wanted to discover certain signs that would convince us that we are really in the generation of Armageddon. So he said:
“When you hear that the Turks are blocking the waters of the Euphrates in the upper reaches with a dam and using them for irrigation, then know that we have already entered into the preparation of that great war and thus the way is being prepared for a two hundred million army from the rising of the sun, as Revelation says.
Among the preparations is this: the Euphrates River must dry up so that a large army can pass through. Although - the Elder smiled at this place - if two hundred million Chinese, when they arrive there, drink one cup of water, they will drain the Euphrates!
I was told that China's army currently numbers two hundred million, i.e. that specific number that St. John writes about in Revelation. The Chinese are even preparing a road, which they call the “miracle of the era”: its width is such that thousands of soldiers lined up in a line can easily pass along it. And by this time they had already brought it to the borders of India.
However, it is necessary great attention and an enlightened, pure mind so that we can discern the signs of the times, because, in some way, everything happens that those who do not care about purifying their hearts cannot discern them, and, as a result, are easily mistaken. Suppose someone knows that in order for an army of millions to pass through, the Euphrates River must dry up. However, if one expects this to happen in a miraculous way, i.e. Suppose a large crack opens and all the water disappears, then such a person will be in error, for he did not take care to “enter the spirit” of the Scriptures through purity of heart. Something similar happened with Chernobyl: in Revelation, St. John the Theologian reports that he saw a star falling from the sky and striking the waters and people. Those, however, who expect a star to fall from the sky have long been deluded and will never understand that this has already happened. Chernobyl in Russia means “Wormwood” and we see that enormous damage has been caused, and it will be even greater as time goes on...”
Prophecy 6:
During the procession of the Holy Lady in 1992, the umbrella over the icon of Panagia was held by an ensign from Ioannina. As we walked, I was on his right, and on his left was the Elder, who at some point said to the officer:
- Come on, pray well, so that you will be a standard bearer in the City (Constantinople) when we enter.
And turning to me he said:
- Did you hear what I said?
- Yes, Geronta, I heard. Amen. - I answered him.
Then he smiled and said his characteristic:
- A! (Okay, exactly!).
A day later I went down to his cell and asked about the City. And he said:
“We will take back Constantinople, but not us.” We, due to the fact that the majority of our youth have fallen, are not capable of this. However, God will arrange it so that others will take the City and give it to us as a solution to their problem.
Prophecy 7:
A group of small disciples from Athonias descended to the Elder. They were occupied with one topic: they heard as if the Elder had told some that we would take Constantinople. And they wanted to hear it themselves from his lips and especially ask whether they would live at that time. So, they talked among themselves on the way that someone should ask the Elder about this topic. So they came and sat down with him, but no one dared to ask such a question. They stood up, took the blessing and headed towards the path. The elder, seeing them off, said smiling:
“And know this: we will take Constantinople and you too will live at that time!”
The disciples were struck like thunder by what he said, and they were amazed at the grace that he had, and that he was informed about everything by it, and also that all these terrible things would happen in their generation.
Prophecy 8:
Mr. D.K. visited the Elder. At that time, the USSR was very strong in all respects and no one could even imagine that it could collapse - it was still under Brezhnev’s rule.
The elder, by the way, told him:
- You will see that the USSR will soon collapse.
Mr. D. objected:
- But such strong power, Geronta, who can destroy it? And they don’t dare touch his nail.
- You'll see!
The elder predicted that the USSR would collapse, and that Mr. D. would still be alive and see this (despite the fact that he was already old).
And the Elder continued:
- Know that Türkiye will also fall apart. There will be a war for two and a half years. We will be winners because we are Orthodox.
- Geronta, will we suffer damage in the war?
- Eh, at most, they will occupy one or two islands, and Constantinople will be given to us. You'll see, you'll see!
Prophecy 9:
One afternoon a group of pilgrims arrived at the Elder’s cell. Having taken the blessing, they sat down in the outer archondarik. The elder with good nature brought them traditional Turkish delight, refreshing water and fresh cherry plum, which previous pilgrims had brought to him. He sat down next to him and began a conversation:
Elder: How do they live in the world?
Dimitri: In general, Geronta, means mass media spread evil and are directed towards it. Moreover, small children are also molested.
Elder: What does the law say? Are you filing lawsuits?
Dimitri: We are trying, Geronta, to do something, but they do not accept words.
Elder: You always have a clear conscience because you are doing your duty. God will arrange the rest.
Dimitri: Can you tell us, Geronta, how we should behave in this evil world? So... in general.
Elder: Reasoning is needed. Do you have a confessor?
Dimitri: Yes, Geronta.
Elder: Consult with your confessor, because sometimes we cannot say “yes” or “no,” so reasoning is required.
Here the Elder stood up and left them alone, and they, seizing an opportune moment, agreed to ask the Elder to tell him about Constantinople. Soon the Elder returned and, to the amazement of everyone, before they could ask anything - showing that his spiritual “radar” had picked up their thoughts - he told them:
Elder: What do you say, will we take the City?
They were speechless and did not say anything.
Elder: Tell me, will we take the City?
The group says nothing in amazement.
Elder(jokingly): Braggarts...
Theodore: Let's take Geronta.
Elder: Glory to You, God. (He crosses himself to the east and looks towards the City.)
Dimitri: If God bless, Geront, we will take him.

The arena will be Palestine, their grave will be the Dead Sea. This will be in the first half time. But there will also be a second half-time: after these events, a person will come to despair, and then everyone will study the Gospel and the Scriptures. Christ will have pity on the world and show a sign for faith. Then you will look for an unbeliever.
Dimitri: Geront's troparion to the prophet Elijah says that he is “the second forerunner of the coming of Christ.” He, as we know, did not die, just like Enoch. Will the prophet Elijah come to earth?
Elder(smiling): Prophet Elijah sharpens and prepares his knife! And even before that he will begin with the patriarchs, rulers, priests and monks!
Nikolay: And worldly ones.
Elder: You have ignorance, we have sins. Doesn’t the prayer at the Divine Liturgy say: “About our sins and about human ignorance”? The Prophet Elijah sharpens his knife: however, a lot of attention is needed, because the Fathers speak differently about some things, and interpret the world differently, as, say, about the six miles, which Saint Cosmas of Aetolia reports. (The Turks will leave, but will come again and reach six miles. In the end they will be driven out to the Red Apple Tree (Kokkinh Mhlia). Of the Turks, 1/3 will die, the other 1/3 will be baptized and the last 1/3 will go to the Red Apple Tree.) No one can explain this.
There are six miles in Langadas, Kilnis, in Thrace, in Corinth, but no one knows that those he speaks of are six miles of territorial waters. Don't you read from the Prophets: Joel, Zechariah, Ezekiel, Daniel? It's all said there. For seven years in Palestine they will burn not wood, but sticks, but how do you know the difference between sticks and firewood! You now have heaters in your houses (smiling), while here I burn wood in the stove and know what’s what.
(We are talking about the prophecy of the prophet Ezekiel - 39, 9-10: “Then the inhabitants of the cities of Israel will come out and make fire and burn weapons, shields and armor, bows and arrows, and maces and spears; they will burn them for seven years. And They will not carry wood from the field, nor cut down from the forests, but they will burn only weapons; they will rob their robbers, and rob their extortioners, says the Lord God.”

Elder Paisios of Athos (in the world Arsenios Eznepidis) was born in Pharas of Cappadocia, in Asia Minor, on July 25, 1924, on the day of St. Anna, from pious parents. In 1958, having received a notice from God, he retired from Athos to the sacred monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Stomio Konitskaya. There, with the help of God's grace, he helped thousands of souls and from there in 1962 he went to Sinai for some spiritual reasons. In Sinai he lived in the cell of Saints Galaktion and Epistimia. He returned to the Holy Mountain in 1964 and settled in the Iveron Skete, in the cell of the Holy Archangels. In 1966 he fell ill and was treated for many months in the hospital, where most of his lungs were taken away. While at the monastery, Stavronikita was close to the famous confessor Father Tikhon, who came from Russia and had many spiritual gifts. The elder served him with great self-sacrifice, offering all the help that was required. Elder Paisiy settled at the request of Father Tikhon (after his death) in his cell of the Holy Cross, where he lived until 1979. After that, he came to the sacred monastery of Kutlumush and settled in the cell of Panaguda. In Panaguda, the Elder helped thousands of souls. All day, from sunrise to sunset, he advised, consoled, resolved problems, banished all embarrassment and filled souls with faith, hope and love for God. He suffered greatly from various illnesses, which he endured with the greatest patience and courage.
