How to identify and treat intestinal atony. How to improve intestinal motility using elementary methods Restore intestinal motility drugs

There are many ways to enhance intestinal motility. This is perhaps the case when it is better to try before using medications traditional methods treatment. Improving intestinal motility allows you to get rid of constipation and a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, and gain a feeling of lightness.

How to improve intestinal motility?

The variety of methods and preparations that can be used to improve intestinal motility is great, but all of them, first of all, involve adjusting the diet and increasing the amount of water consumed.

To enhance intestinal motility, it is required A complex approach, consisting of proper nutrition, physical exercise, and in some situations medications. A positive result can also be achieved by using folk remedies - various decoctions and mixtures that improve the movement of feces through the intestines.

Drug treatment

They are successfully used to improve intestinal motility medicines, which enhance the motility of the organ, have a stimulating effect on the smooth muscle fibers of the walls of the gastrointestinal tract and stimulate its emptying.

It is important to understand that regular, uncontrolled use of medications can lead to the opposite effect - achieving regular bowel movements without using medications will be problematic, so the choice of medications and the regimen for use is prescribed by a doctor.

How to improve intestinal motility with the help of medications? Laxatives will come to the rescue. Under their influence, muscle contractions are activated and feces are excreted. Currently, there are many types of drugs that affect the motility of different parts of the intestine.

Laxatives that improve intestinal motility can be divided into three groups.

Medicines that affect the entire intestine

Sodium sulfate (Glauber's salt) and magnesia (Epsom salt) work on this principle. These substances are the strongest and most effective, but their frequent use threatens the development of intestinal atony and dehydration of the body.

When consuming salts, osmotic pressure increases, which causes a disruption in the mechanisms of absorption of the liquid part of semi-digested food and improves peristalsis. Defecation after taking the drugs occurs 1-2 hours later, which allows you to quickly get rid of the problem.

Drugs that affect the small intestine

The most famous medicine in this group is castor oil ( Castor oil). It works in the gap duodenum, where under the influence ricinolic acid is formed from the active components of the drug. The substance leads to irritation of receptors located on the walls of the entire intestine, which causes their contractile activity.

In addition, the oil retains fluid in the intestinal lumen and does not allow electrolytes to be absorbed, which also leads to easier bowel movements. The effect of the product is observed after 4-6 hours and is accompanied by tenesmus.

Medicines that activate colon motility

This group of drugs includes laxatives of both natural and synthetic origin.

Natural products contain extracts medicinal herbs and plants. Rhubarb and licorice root, buckthorn, and senna leaves help to quickly increase intestinal motility and are suitable for treating constipation in adults and children over 3-4 years of age.

The action of such drugs tones the smooth muscles in the large intestine, which stimulates its contraction and leads to bowel movements. This group includes such popular drugs as Regulax, which contains senna, figs, prunes and paraffin, as well as Senadexin, consisting of senna leaf extract and auxiliary components.

Synthetic drugs that enhance intestinal motility, in pharmaceutical industry are available in the form of suppositories, tablets and solutions (Bisacodyl, Guttalax, Laxigal). Thanks to their action, the motility of the colon is activated, which makes it possible to eliminate constipation not only caused by hypotension, but also by surgical interventions.

The negative side of these drugs is the body's addiction, painful urges in the stomach and allergic reactions.

Traditional methods

To improve intestinal motility, medication is not always required. Proven methods traditional treatment will help you get rid of a delicate problem.

Here are simple recipes:

  1. Dried fruits . Take 350 grams of prunes and dried apricots, rinse well and chop. To the resulting gruel, add a package of pharmaceutical senna, 200 grams of liquid honey, two tablespoons of propolis and mix well. Eat 30 grams daily at night before bed, washed down with water.
  2. Buckthorn . Pour 10 grams of tree bark into a container and pour half a liter of boiling water. After the decoction has infused, it should be strained and drunk as tea.
  3. Plantain . The seeds of this plant are good remedy to improve intestinal motility. Before use, grind them in a coffee grinder and eat 3 grams before meals.
  4. Wheat bran . Coarse fibers swell when they enter the intestines, which improves intestinal motility and the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract as a whole. Use 2 tablespoons, after mixing with a small amount of liquid in the form of a paste.
  5. Laxative mixture . Mix chopped apples with two tablespoons of honey and oatmeal, add a little lemon juice and sprouted wheat grains. The resulting mixture can be eaten without restrictions during the day.

As can be seen from the listed methods, intestinal motility can be improved not only with the help of medications, but also with traditional methods. If the expected effect is not achieved, consult a doctor for help.

Nutrition

Food plays a leading role in normalizing the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, because some of them contribute to increased motility, and this, in turn, improves intestinal motility.

To bring work digestive system to normal, you must adhere to some rules and consume foods that improve intestinal motility:

  • eat fresh vegetables or fruits every day;
  • eat sprouted grains, as well as bran, because they are rich in fiber;
  • when choosing porridge, give preference to buckwheat, pearl barley or barley, reduce the consumption of rice and semolina;
  • if there is a predisposition to constipation, include in daily menu prunes, figs, fresh plums and grapes;
  • do not limit the amount of liquid you drink, the daily minimum is 2 liters;
  • before going to bed, drink a glass of yogurt or any other fermented milk product;
  • flavor your food with spices and herbs, because they stimulate the intestines;
  • limit the amount of sweets and baked goods;
  • Eat vegetables as a side dish for meat to improve its digestion and passage through the gastrointestinal tract;
  • eat often, but in small portions;
  • exclude coffee, strong tea and carbonated drinks;
  • Avoid fried foods and smoked foods.

Exercises

Intestinal motility is directly related to physical activity, so daily exercise, like nothing else, can stimulate the intestines to work and improve their emptying.

Before taking medications to improve intestinal motility, try a simple set of exercises:

  1. Lie on your back, place your palms under your buttocks and alternately rotate your legs, as if pedaling a bicycle. Toning the abdominal muscles and increasing blood circulation in the pelvis have a beneficial effect on the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.
  2. The starting position is the same as in the previous exercise. Bend both legs at the knees and press them tightly to your stomach, clasping them with your arms. Repeat 10-15 times.
  3. Get on all fours. Alternately straighten your legs at the knees, moving them back, while bending your back.
  4. Do any exercises that involve the abdominal muscles - this helps remove excess gases and stimulates intestinal contractions.
  5. Do 10-15 squats as the final element of gymnastics.

It is not always possible to resort to medications to improve intestinal motility; in cases of acute constipation, traditional methods and active physical activity. In addition, products that enhance peristalsis will help improve intestinal function.

If after all the measures taken there is no relief, seek help from a doctor so that he can prescribe you a laxative that will eliminate the difficulties.

Intestinal dysfunction is a very unpleasant phenomenon that affects the entire body. Sluggish peristalsis leads to constipation, toxin poisoning, and the development of chronic and oncological diseases. Active, in turn, is accompanied by debilitating diarrhea, dehydrates and washes away beneficial microelements. Any disruptions affect your overall well-being.

If you notice systematic signs of intestinal dysfunction, you need to consult a doctor to determine the exact causes and choose the optimal treatment method. In the early stages, you can help yourself on your own, without resorting to medications. Traditional medicine and nutritional adjustments provide very good results.

Let's consider different methods therapies that will allow you to feel the same lightness again.

Proper nutrition

Since the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract directly depends on what we eat, it is imperative to reconsider your diet. At the same time, you need to understand that various products have completely different effects on intestinal motility, contributing to an increase or decrease in its functions.

Helpful for sluggish bowels:

  • vegetables that contain a lot of fiber: beets, carrots, turnips, radishes, radishes, fresh and pickled cabbage;
  • legumes, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, melon, watermelon, which have cleansing properties;
  • plums, apricots, persimmons, sour apples, dried fruits;
  • gooseberries, raspberries, strawberries, grapes, blueberries;
  • yogurt, kefir, yogurt, sour cream, fermented baked milk;
  • oatmeal, barley and buckwheat porridge, bran;
  • oil from sunflower, olive, corn, flax;
  • seafood, fish, kelp;
  • nuts, sprouted grains, flaxseeds, greens;
  • ice cream (especially fruit ice cream);

In order not to harm the intestines, find out. You can avoid complications, including poisoning.

  • cold apple and cherry compotes, fruit, carrot, beet and cabbage juices, cabbage brine, still mineral water, white grape wine.

You can reduce peristalsis by consuming:

  • meat dishes, boiled eggs, butter;
  • fresh white bread, baked goods;
  • pearl barley, rice and semolina porridge, rice water;
  • vegetable purees and pureed soups;
  • pomegranates, pears, quinces, fresh and in the form of compotes;

  • chocolate;
  • hot tea, coffee, cocoa, as well as red grape wines.

By wisely selecting products from the lists above, you can quickly get rid of unpleasant symptoms and improve intestinal function.

For the period of treatment, exclude fried, smoked, fatty and canned foods from your menu. Observe drinking regime– at least 2 liters of water per day. For constipation, start the day with a glass of water before breakfast and end it with the same dose of kefir before bed.

There are no special dietary restrictions, the main thing is that you eat a balanced, moderate, fractional portion 5-6 times a day.

Physical exercise

Level physical activity directly affects the condition of the intestines. One of the reasons for weakening peristalsis is a sedentary lifestyle and refusal of sports activities.

There are special sets of exercises designed to maintain intestinal health. Among them are squats, bending and lifting the body, strengthening the walls of the abdominal press. Aerobics, swimming, running, regular morning exercises also used for medicinal purposes. In principle, you can choose for yourself any convenient methods that focus on supporting the muscles of the whole body with an emphasis on the abdominal ones.

To improve intestinal motility, you can perform the following simple exercises:

  1. As soon as you wake up, lie down on a hard surface, stretch your arms along your body or place them on your stomach. Squeeze and inflate your belly for a few minutes.
  2. Slowly pump your abs, lifting your torso 10-20 times.
  3. Lying on your back, bend your knees and alternately press your tailbone and lower back to the floor.
  4. Without changing position, raise and lower your pelvis.
  5. Do the bicycle exercise.
  6. Lying down, lift both straight legs, if difficult, one at a time.
  7. Alternately and together, pull your knees toward your chest.
  8. Grasp your bent knees and press tightly to your stomach, maintaining the position for a few seconds.
  9. Get on your knees, alternately stretch your legs and arch your back.
  10. Kneeling, lean on your elbows and palms, lower your head. Lower your buttocks first to the left, then to right side.
  11. Jumping on the spot or with a skipping rope.
  12. Very slow squats.
  13. Finally, walk rhythmically in place.

In addition to the sport itself, massage has an excellent effect. Before each meal, simply stroke your belly clockwise.

Folk remedies

The most popular home remedies to restore normal peristalsis are the following:

  • Take 1-2 tbsp. l. steamed with boiling water or raw wheat bran and wash down with a small amount of water. Fiber works similarly, adding 1-2 tablespoons to food and drink.
  • Mixture of 2 grated apples, 1 tbsp. l. chopped nuts, 1 tbsp. l. sprouted wheat grains, 2 tbsp. l. oatmeal, 1 tbsp. l. honey, juice of half a lemon and 2 tbsp. l. warm water. Take in any quantity for 7 days.
  • Grind 500 g of prunes and the same amount of dried apricots in a meat grinder, add 200 g of senna, 200 ml of liquid honey and 50 g of propolis. Take 2 teaspoons with cool water before bed.
  • A few teaspoons of milk thistle seeds a day, 30 minutes before meals.
  • 1 tsp. crushed plantain seeds before eating.
  • Red rowan berries should be poured with boiling water and taken several times a day, 1 tablespoon 15 minutes before meals.
  • Finely chop the rose hips and take 1/2 teaspoon once a day before bed.
  • As a mild laxative, you can take buckthorn decoction, which you drink instead of tea. Steam a tablespoon of raw material with 500 ml of boiling water and leave for 3 hours.
  • Eat salted lard in small quantities daily.
  • Prepare semolina porridge regularly without sugar and salt. Roast with beans and pumpkin, beet salad with garlic, oatmeal jelly, honey have a good effect on peristalsis.
  • Suppositories with propolis. This treatment requires rest, so it is best to place them at night before bedtime.

It would also be a good idea to purchase special herbal infusions at the pharmacy. Herbal teas are specially selected for a specific organ or system and help not only in treatment, but also in prevention.

When using traditional medicine, consider your tolerance to individual components and monitor the results of treatment. If there is no improvement after 3 days of taking the drug, replace it with another one.

Traditional medicine

At pathological processes and no response to alternative treatment methods, a consultation with a gastroenterologist or proctologist is necessary, who, after testing, will prescribe individual treatment. Pharmaceutical products are quickly effective and require no effort on the part of the patient. But without changing your lifestyle, their effect will be short-lived.

For complex treatment Usually they use drugs that enhance peristalsis and muscle tone, eliminate bloating, and normalize the process of food digestion. These drugs are combined with medications containing enzymes and laxatives based on herbal, oil, salt or synthetic bases. If dysfunction develops against the background long-term stress, antidepressants, antipsychotics or tranquilizers may be prescribed.

You can hear about intestinal motility disorders from your doctor when making many diagnoses related to this disease. This term is commonly used to describe malfunctions in the functioning of various departments intestines.

Peristalsis refers to reflex actions.

The normal functioning of the intestine occurs as a systematic contraction of the muscles lining the walls of this organ. The contractions are wavy in nature.

They become possible due to the peculiar structure of muscle fibers in this area. Firstly, they have a double layer.

Secondly, the direction of the muscle fibers of the upper and lower layers does not coincide, but runs perpendicular to each other. The intensity of contractions varies depending on the section of the intestine.

The contractions occur either quite slowly or very rapidly, depending on the situation. But in the large intestine, contractions can only be slow, because a large bolus of food moves there. However, they are also systematic. Otherwise, the chyme would not be able to reach the anus. These contractions are commonly called peristalsis.

Peristalsis refers to reflex actions. It occurs immediately after the appearance of food in. Average frequency contractions in different parts of the intestine are as follows:

  • duodenum - approximately 10 per minute;
  • small intestine – 9 – 10 / min;
  • large intestine – 3 – 4 / min;
  • rectum - up to 3.

If any reasons have affected the slowdown of peristalsis, the entire body is exposed to the negative effects of the consequences. Minerals, other useful material are poorly absorbed and problems with bowel movements arise.

As a result, elements of chyme that are not removed in time decompose, leading to the spread of toxins throughout the body, contributing to the development of symptoms characteristic of intestinal dyskinesia.

Signs of peristalsis failure

Abdominal pain is a sign of intestinal motility failure.

The following signs indicate disruptions in intestinal motility:

  • Painful sensations in the abdomen, found in different places below the navel. The pain may be slightly aching, or it may be cramping in nature. If they make themselves known at night, the person will be completely deprived of the opportunity to get enough sleep. If you manage to empty your intestines and free them from accumulated bowels, then the pain subsides. However, in the morning after eating, the discomfort will begin to bother you again. Drinks that contain caffeine can provoke pain. Anxiety, anxiety, and overwork have a detrimental effect on the condition.
  • Bloating caused by accumulated gases is another unpleasant symptom. Delays in the movement of chyme provoke increased gas formation.
  • Problems with . The most common symptom is constipation. Only in some patients does constipation give way to diarrhea. Most are forced to resort to enemas and laxatives. Over time, the situation only worsens and the person is completely deprived of the ability to empty his bowels on his own.
  • Digestive problems lead to weight gain, which causes frustration among patients. Against the background of the above symptoms, it worsens general state. Many experience weakness and apathy caused by insomnia. Some suffer from irritability.
  • Intoxication affects appearance. These include acne, deterioration of the condition of the skin, hair, and excessive oiliness. Intensifying allergic manifestations. If disruptions in intestinal motility begin to produce unwanted “fruits,” you should make an appointment with a doctor as soon as possible, who will be able to select the right treatment.

Reasons for slower peristalsis

If bowel dysfunction occurs, surgery may be required.

Malfunctions in the intestines have their own causes. In order to completely normalize the situation, the doctor will first of all identify the reason that provoked the deterioration in well-being. In most cases there are several reasons:

  1. eating large amounts of high-calorie foods;
  2. chronic intestinal diseases;
  3. (malignant, benign);
  4. surgical intervention;
  5. taking medications that inhibit bowel function;
  6. old age;
  7. genetic predisposition.

Even with proper treatment of the underlying disease, it is impossible to regulate the functioning of the intestines without a balanced diet. Flour products, dishes containing a lot of starch, and fats have a negative effect. Sugar is a product that enhances putrefactive processes in the digestive tract.

When peristalsis slows down, toxins are formed in large quantities and enter other organs through the intestinal walls. In the intestine itself, the chyme that has not been released hardens over time, and “” is obtained. For them to come out naturally, it is necessary to fully restore the functionality of this organ.

It's quite difficult to push them out. After all, they are very dense and heavy. If they go through the intestinal passages, then destruction of the walls occurs, as a result of which they develop dangerous diseases. Among them are cracks. Stagnation of blood in this body leads to the appearance of polyps and hemorrhoids. Elderly patients have their own sequence of pathology development. They are changing hormonal background, muscle fibers become weaker and sluggish. And all existing chronic diseases progress.

Acceleration of peristalsis

Sometimes the functioning of the intestines follows an accelerated pattern. Wave-like contractions occur at a faster speed than normal. This condition may be caused oncological pathology, violation , development chronic diseases. Externally, increased peristalsis is expressed in attacks of diarrhea. Diarrhea is accompanied by pain, foamy discharge, and the stool is watery.

To normalize the situation, it is necessary to be examined to accurately determine the cause of this condition. After this, you can take action. Illiterate treatment can completely destabilize the condition. If serious problems cannot be identified, then the cause is poor nutrition. After following the diet, the condition should improve. To speed up recovery. You can take medications that slow down peristalsis. This is diara, and its analogue is loperamide.

Ways to improve peristalsis

If you have diarrhea, you should not eat jelly.

If there is insufficient peristalsis, there are a number of simple steps you can take to help restore normal bowel function.

  • Mandatory consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Among drinks, juices are preferable, especially freshly squeezed ones, not only from fruits, but also from vegetables. Carrot and beetroot are especially useful.
  • Cabbage. You should also drink mineral water without gas.
  • Sprouted grains, nuts, and flax seeds are included in the diet.
  • When eating meat, add vegetables.
  • Cook porridge from buckwheat, millet, oatmeal. Forget about rice and semolina for now.
  • should be in the diet constantly, including raisins, figs, prunes, dried apricots.
  • Proper drinking regimen should be observed. Every morning drink a glass of water. The volume of water per day should be increased to 2 liters.
  • You should not eat foods that have a reputation for treating diarrhea. This is black tea, boiled eggs, pomegranates. It is also better to avoid hot foods.
  • Kefir and others dairy products Drinking before going to bed will help you empty your bowels naturally in the morning.
  • You need to eat in small portions.
  • Potatoes and baked goods should be excluded.
  • Drinks are best taken cool.
  • Spicy and hot seasonings stimulate the intestines.
  • Food should only be swallowed if it is well chewed.
  • Laxatives should not be abused.
  • The first urge to defecate should not be ignored. It can't be tolerated at all.
  • Sugar, carbonated drinks, smoked foods, coffee should be excluded.
  • Need to think about increasing physical activity, if it is missing.

Medications that improve peristalsis

Guttalax is addictive.

To improve the functioning of the intestines, medications are prescribed that help increase motility and muscle tone.

It could be vasopressin, proserin. But self-medication is dangerous, so you can take these drugs only after they have been prescribed by a doctor.

To improve intestinal contractions, laxatives can be used. They are divided into groups depending on which part of the intestine they affect.

  1. Laxatives general action. This group includes drugs that have a beneficial effect on all intestinal sections at once. For example. Epsom salt increases osmotic pressure, resulting in bowel movements within an hour and a half.
  2. Remedies for the small intestine. The classic remedy is castor oil. It facilitates the movement of the food bolus and improves motor skills. Defecation occurs after 2–5 hours. Unpleasant side effects include possible pain.
  3. Remedies for the large intestine. These are mainly drugs plant origin, for example, buckthorn bark. The action is the ability to enhance the tone of the walls.
  4. Synthetic products. and others like it are effective. However, they are dangerous because they can become addictive.

Physiotherapy

Peristalsis can be restored by increasing physical activity. There are also special exercises that stimulate intestinal function. They will help improve blood circulation in the pelvic organs. Among the useful exercises are “Bicycle”, “Cat”, leg raises in a lying position.

  • - Ice cubes;
  • - hot water;
  • - honey;
  • - oatmeal;
  • - salt.
Complexion depends on the quality of nutrition and the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Limit everything in your diet harmful products- from overcooked food to semi-finished products with preservatives. Make it a rule to drink a glass of heated water immediately after waking up, to which you can add a teaspoon of honey. This remedy will help cleanse the body and normalize intestinal motility. For breakfast, try to eat porridge cooked in water without adding salt and sugar (buckwheat or oatmeal). Exfoliate your skin regularly. At home, you can use pharmaceutical scrubs or make them yourself. One of the effective remedies is ground oatmeal (3 parts) and fine salt (1 part). Add a little water to this mixture until you get a paste-like mass. Then massage your face with it for 1-2 minutes and rinse with warm water. Several times a year, you can have salon acid peeling procedures performed by an experienced cosmetologist. The purpose of such manipulations is the timely removal of dead cells and acceleration metabolic processes in the skin. Try to get enough sleep. No cosmetic procedure will give the desired effect if you do not give the body the opportunity to fully recover. In this case, you must go to bed no later than 23:00-23:30. During the day, before each meal, drink the decoction, and you will definitely feel an improvement in your appetite.
  • no appetite after antibiotics
Impaired intestinal motility causes constipation in the body with the release of dense stool in the form of sheep feces or a thin ribbon. This indicates stool dehydration due to a lack of water in the body. In order for the intestines to work smoothly, it is necessary to regulate water exchange. But it is necessary not only to drink enough water, it must be retained in the intestines so that peristalsis is normal.
  • To improve intestinal motility, it is necessary to prepare the following components:
  • - bran;
  • - flaxseed;
  • - milk thistle;
  • - plantain seeds.
To retain water in the intestines, which will effectively cleanse it, take 1 teaspoon of bran 3 times a day. Bran should be washed down with at least 250 ml of water. This amount of bran per day is enough to normalize stool and avoid dehydration. To normalize intestinal function, prepare flaxseed oil. Grind 100 grams of flaxseed to a powder, put it in a 600 gram glass jar and fill it to the top with unrefined sunflower oil. Place the jar in a dark place for 2 weeks to infuse. Before use, stir the mixture until a suspension of flax seeds appears in the oil. Take 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil mixed with a glass of kefir at night. This composition normalizes intestinal motility, eliminates dysbiosis and improves the liver. Milk thistle seeds also perfectly normalize intestinal function. Take milk thistle seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder. Take 1 teaspoon of crushed milk thistle seeds 3 times a day with food, you can add it to your meal or eat it with water. Plantain seeds are great for healing gastrointestinal tract. Take plantain seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder. Take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day before meals. Plantain seeds swell in the intestines and retain water well. Thanks to this, the formation of feces occurs normally, they move easily and the intestines are emptied. To normalize intestinal motility, it is necessary to put in order the teeth, which are the basis correct intake food. Fresh vegetables and fruits also help normalize intestinal motility. But there is one thing required condition– they must be chewed until they turn into a puree. Another necessary condition good intestinal motility means eating food not on the run, but not in a hurry, at the same time every day.

Chemotherapy produces amazing results in treating most types of cancer. However, the drugs used to carry it out are very toxic. To eliminate the negative effects of chemistry and restore the body, it is necessary to take measures.
Chemotherapy is prescribed for treatment malignant neoplasms. The drugs used to carry it out affect the entire body, resulting in the death of not only the primary tumor focus, but also distant metastases. However, this does not go unnoticed for healthy cells, as a result of which most patients experience side effects from the chemistry. In most cases, it takes two to three weeks for the condition to normalize, but some complications may persist for several months or even years. Chemotherapy affects Bone marrow, killing its cells. As a result, the composition of the blood changes. This cannot but affect your well-being, and therefore the fight against this complication is a priority. Take iron supplements (Ferrum-lek, Actiferrin, Sorbifer and others) to raise your hemoglobin level to at least 110 g/l. If leukocytes decrease, take a course of treatment with Granocyte or Neupogen. In case of thrombocytopenia, blood transfusion may be required to avoid complications. Chemotherapy has Negative influence on the gastrointestinal tract. That is why a common complication anticancer treatment is gastritis and peptic ulcer stomach and duodenum. To improve the condition, the doctor will prescribe medications, however full recovery impossible without following a diet. Eat meat and fish dishes, cereals, fruit and vegetable purees. Try to eat often, but in small portions. Include fermented milk products in your diet; they normalize microflora and improve intestinal motility. The immune system also suffers from anti-cancer drugs. The body's defenses are reduced, and as a result, the risk of catching any infection increases sharply. Try to avoid visiting crowded places, and to restore your body, take vitamin supplements, spend more time in the fresh air, and take immunomodulators.

Restore intestinal motility

Peristalsis is coordinated contractions of the intestinal wall aimed at ensuring normal motor-evacuation function. The main disturbances of peristalsis can be characterized as constipation and diarrhea. Treatment includes medications and diet.

One of the most important processes characterizing the normal activity of the gastrointestinal tract is peristalsis. According to WHO, about 30% of the adult population suffers from constipation, which is associated with impaired motor-evacuation function of the intestine. In turn, there are other disturbances of peristalsis, accompanied by a feeling of discomfort, pain and increased gas formation in the abdomen.

What is peristalsis

From the anatomy course we know that the digestive tract is a tube consisting of several layers of smooth muscle (circular and longitudinal). Thanks to this structure, the intestine is capable of contractile activity, which can be described as peristalsis.

This is a very important process that ensures normal motor-evacuation function. That is, the bolus of food moves through the small intestine, as a result of which digestion and absorption take place, after which it proceeds to the large intestine, where it can be further processed.

But peristalsis itself is much more complex than it might seem. Indeed, the intestinal wall contains nerve plexuses (Meissner's and Auerbach's) - they provoke the potential for the occurrence of peristaltic waves. There are fast and slow waves, which reach their highest frequency in small intestine. In turn, up to 4 waves occur in the large intestine per day, most often after the stomach is filled (gastro-colytic reflex).

Main types of violation

It should be noted that due to disruption of physiological mechanisms (neuro-humoral regulation), trauma, surgery, and infectious diseases, disturbances in intestinal motility may develop.

Most often we are talking about these types of disorders:

  1. increased peristaltic activity - diarrhea;
  2. slower peristaltic activity – constipation.

These are the two main groups of symptoms that can be observed due to peristalsis disorders. On this moment the topic of constipation and diarrhea is one of the most controversial issues, because they were recently included in ICD-10, and they can be considered as separate diseases. In turn, FOG and AGA include diarrhea and constipation as symptoms of the following diseases:

And yet, constipation and diarrhea are functional disorders that can occur as independent diseases (if there are disorders neurohumoral regulation), and as part of other nosologies.

Manifestations of disorders: main symptoms

Most often, motor-evacuation function disorders occur after surgery - paralytic intestinal obstruction. In addition, this disease can develop as a result of injuries, infections, poisoning, shocks, against the background of peritonitis, and much more. By and large, this is a breakdown of regulation, that is, nerve impulses do not reach the intestinal wall. Typically used conservative treatment drugs.

Symptoms:

  • bloating;
  • lack of peristalsis;
  • weakness;
  • abdominal pain;
  • constipation

Often, diarrhea occurs during infectious diseases, when drugs that stimulate peristalsis, foods rich in fiber, etc. are used. It has the following symptoms: increasing peristaltic waves and frequent urge to defecate. The opposite condition is constipation. The most important symptoms are sluggish peristalsis and stool disorders.

Diagnostic features

Before establishing peristalsis, it is necessary to identify its cause. To do this, the gastroenterologist performs a number of additional research methods:

Most often, a diagnosis of functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract or IBS is made when there is no obvious cause for the disturbance of peristalsis (for example, injury, condition after surgery, drugs or food).

Treatment with modern methods: means to restore intestinal function

For many years, patients have been making even attempts to restore peristalsis, using special medications and products, but the symptoms can cause discomfort for many years. The best way out in such a situation, contact a specialized specialist.

Quite often used medications, improving peristalsis, but, unfortunately, they will have to be taken for a long time if there is a diagnosis of functional disorders. In general, all means aimed at correcting function can be divided into two groups:

  • enhancing work – for constipation (for example, after surgery);
  • slowing down intestinal activity.

How to slow down peristalsis. Treatment for diarrhea

We talk about diarrhea when the intestines work hard: defecation more than 3 times a day mixed with water. As already mentioned, the cause of diarrhea can be infection, IBS, etc. In the first case, it is necessary to take antibacterial drugs.

For chronic diarrhea, you must follow these recommendations:

  • Diet. In order to make the intestines work more slowly, you should limit the consumption of fruits, vegetables, juices, milk and other foods that enhance peristalsis. In turn, it is recommended to eat rice porridge, bananas, crackers, cutlets - all these products help to quickly eliminate symptoms.
  • Medicines. Probiotics also help restore intestinal function - these preparations contain lacto- and bifidumbacteria. They are used for both infectious and antibiotic-associated diarrhea. This treatment helps make the intestines work better.

How to improve peristalsis. Treatment for constipation

For constipation, complex drug treatment is used to improve peristaltic activity. Most often, this treatment is used after surgery.

Popular drugs and products to combat constipation:

  • Diet. It is very important to force yourself to eat right - this is the first rule and the main treatment for constipation. Eat foods rich in fiber (vegetables, dried fruits, vegetable decoctions, juices, etc.). It is advisable not to limit yourself to lactic acid products and so on. After the operation, only broths are consumed in the first days.
  • Drugs. After surgery, as well as in case of chronic constipation great attention is given to laxatives. Central attention is paid to AChE drugs (proserin, galantamine, etc.) - these drugs are used quite often after surgery. There is also an osmotic group (lactulose, magnesium sulfate, etc.). Another popular group is mechanical “engines” (bisacodyl, picosulfate and others) - this treatment is also used after surgery.
  • Prevention. This refers to various folk remedies, normalization of lifestyle, drinking regime and choice of toilet design.

Every patient should understand that any disturbances in peristalsis can result in serious complications (for example, fecal stones, obstruction, etc.). That is why you should closely monitor your health and promptly seek help from a specialist.

The drugs used to carry it out affect every organism, resulting in the death of not only the primary tumor focus, but also distant metastases. However, this does not go unnoticed for healthy cells, as a result of which most patients experience side effects from chemistry. In most cases, it takes two to three weeks for the condition to normalize, but some complications may persist for several months or even years.

2. Chemotherapy affects the bone marrow by killing its cells. As a result, the composition of the blood changes. This cannot but affect your well-being, and therefore combating this complication is a priority. Take iron supplements (Ferrum-lek, Aktiferrin, Sorbifer and others) in order to raise your hemoglobin level to 110 g/l. If leukocytes decrease, take a course of treatment with Granocyte or Neupogen. In case of thrombocytopenia, blood transfusion may be necessary to avoid complications.

3. Chemotherapy has a negative effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, gastritis and peptic ulcers of the stomach and duodenum are a frequent complication of anticancer treatment. Eating homogeneous food, physical inactivity, stress, and various diseases often cause this intestinal motility disorder like hypotension. In this case, intestinal function slows down or stops completely, causing the development of constipation. To restore its function, it is usually enough to adhere to an appropriate diet and remove the source of stress. But in some cases, medication is still necessary.
